Note: there shouldn't be a tek on this, But I see the question come up over and over and over. So here it is. Step 1: Dehydrate them Dehydrate till they 100% dry. I dry mine for 24 to 36 hours. The extra time doesn't hurt IME. I like to be 100% sure they are 100% cracker dry. Here is a link to mushboy's dry fruit comparison. Dry Fruit Comparison Step 2: Storage method. Jar or Vacuum Seal Bags Jar Storage Simply put, I stick them into a mason jar. No desiccants notta. Just straight into a jar with the lid on tight ![]() Vacuum Sealing Now, If your going to vacuum seal them, Here is how I go about doing that. Grab your handy dandy vacuum seal bags. I have two styles, The roll style where I have to cut them to size, and the big quart ones. For this example, I will be using the roll version. As it covers the sealing process as well as bag creation. Cut off a chunk of the roll. The size will vary based on how much your going to store in them. The gold bar on this seal I have is for sealing only, not vacuuming out the air. So we need to make our first seal so we can put mushrooms in them. Place your chunk of bag on the sealer like so. Then press the spots where it says press here, until the unit's hands free fapping light turns on. Huzzah! The bottom of the bag is now made. ![]() Okay! Now that is complete, Place however much mushrooms you desire in the bag. Place the open end of the bag onto the gold strip. Holy crap! That is a looooot! ![]() Now, we need to do the same process we did with making the bottom of the bag. Okay! So Oops, My seal was fucked as you can see here. (If you don't cut the bags 100% straight you will most likely have to do this and sometimes I like to triple seal my bags.) Simply do the same process again, and you can get a cleaner seal by putting the bag further into the vacuum sealer with no worries of it sucking the air out. Bam! We have a bag that's sealed up air tight.
