"Cold shocking is not necessary with any cubensis. Reducing the temperature of the mycelium below 70 F will only slow things down. The time to pin set will get longer. Dropping the temperature from the 80's to the 70's is plenty good enough. The mycelium will begin to form pins without cold shocking. Increased O2, light, nutrient availability inside the mycelial colony, and gentetics determine time to pin. Cold shocking is not a requirement. Even for aggressive vegetative strains like, mexi-cube, or P. Rican. A thicker casing layer, and earlier intiation is a better strategy then cold shocking. Case thick, incubate for 24-48 hours, and initiate." quoted from Teonan...i had asked the same question last night, i decided against it. Edited by MickyFinn (02/10/02 11:24 AM)
