Quote: Well, the game has been continually marketed to appeal to Dungeons and Dragons players looking for an outlet in modern videogaming and, in that regard, it has gameplay mechanics that make it great am running through the story campaign totally solo, but have a number of friends already interested in multiplayer used to play D&D with some of them, back when we lived in the same city and Divinity: Original Sin 2 effectively gives us a medium to more effectively do so despite being hundreds of miles apart now so, if the game world itself ever gets boring, Game Master mode makes it easy enough to do short campaigns and storytelling with friends beyond that, the game universe has decent levels of variations to distinguish it from others and the races feel meaningfully connected to the history/lore of the game world which makes absorbing it more interesting my OCD gives me constant intrusive thoughts of suicide, death by fire, everyone I love being brutally tortured which results in me ritualistically spending hours at the sink trying to scrub myself clean to try and mitigate the thoughts and PTSD sends me falling back down a hole into rape and abuse in my childhood it means a lot to me to be able to get absorbed into another world for a while so as long as there are people willing to concoct large-scale stories for me to adventure through will happily jump into them, even if the fantasy races ever start to feel samey or opposite to one another (ie: Divinity Lizard people are aristocratic rulers; Elder Scrolls Argonians are oppressed slaves) my larger problem is that my current batch of medication seems to be serving in a counter-productive manner such that the intrusive thoughts are coming at me while deeply absorbed in game and have started ritualistically rerolling characters and tweaking builds to try and get myself absorbed and distracted fantasy worlds just tend to have more power in swaying my mind from the real world compared to things like Fallout or Shadowrun being heavily steeped in the real world as influences and lore at least Fantasy worlds do not have me constantly focused on oppressive corporations and nuclear fire
