Just to note, out of straight technicality, this could not have possibly contained the same amount of actives as the dried fruit. The water went blue, and the extract is black. Both signs of oxidization. So yes it worked, and it is possible. How efficient the process is, is unknown. The fact that there is for 100% certain some loss of actives, would lead me to use another method that doesnt oxidize the actives. Another reason why chocolates work best, is because they protect the actives from light and oxygen exposure. This water extract may be useful though for people with chitin sensitivity, like I think OP said he had.
