I use a 1 1/2" stir bar in a quart mason jar to stir my agar and malt extract at room temp. I turn it up as much as possible, to the point just before the stir bar gets kicked off (substantial vortex). Everything is dissolved nicely . Anybody elsedo this? On second thought, perhaps it's tougher to dissolve different grades of agar. I'm using some microbiology grade agar. --------------------
