Weird happenings---Mycobags

Well, today I prepared a mycobag to test my LC.
Using brown rice as a substrate, I followed the 9er teks cooking method (although my friend was a bit of an idiot and let the rice scorch a bit while I was preparing the syringe...)...
Anyway, I loaded up ~1.5 pounds in to the mycobag and sealed it...PCd for 65 minutes at 15 PSI...relieved the pressure...put it out in the snow for 20 minutes to cool down to room temp...brought it back in my kitchen to knock it up...
And thats when I noticed, the brown rice had turned in to two perfect cylinders while out in the snow. I dont know how, I dont know why, but inside that bag was two masses of rice that looked like they came out of quart mason jars.
I didnt know what the fuck to make of this. Not only was it strange that the two were completely separate, but it made the thing a pain in the ass to inoculate cause I had to hit them both separately inside the bag.
I accomplished this by just aiming the syringe, but it was a weird experience anyway.
Just wanted to share.
Hopefully the LC is a go, cause the added surface area will be good for the fruiting

Never release the pressure in your cooker!! Doing so will make the moisture inside your bags rapidly boil. And never rapidly cool your substrate. Wild swings in temperature cause large exchanges of air between the outside and your jar/bag.
Always allow your pressure cooker to cool naturaly.
Using on its own is not a great substrate choice. Its very hard to get to a good moisture content without being sticky. Thats why its ground to a flour and mixed with verm.
Sounds like myceliumw ill have a hell of a time trying to colinise a block of sticky rice thats formed a solid blcok

Sounds like the rice was overcooked and became starchy. I'd throw it out, start a new batch (substrate of your choice, straight brown rice isn't a great idea BTW), and allow the PC to cool naturally.
Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, mates.
All really helpful.
Basically, I know my GT got fucked. I've learned a lot about cultivation along the way though.
Anyway.
I was just pointing out the weird shape they made.
lol
