Salvia depressive or anti depressive?
    #7612679 - 11/08/07 08:25 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

I read on wikipedia that many salvia users describe anti-depressant like effects up to 24 hours after taking salvia.

But then I read an article on shroomery stating that researchers noticed depressive like effects in lab mice after giving them salvia.

I am a little confused as to the after effects. Is it anything like shrooms after effects? If so im getting some 20x this weekend. Will I still be interested in doing stuff like playing xbox or will I feel depressed and uninterested in doing stuff like this article implied?

Also the very fact that it is legal also scares me. I keep thinking maybe the government knows something bad about salvia that they won't reveal to the public and thats why they dont criminalize it. Kind of like they did with ciggarettes and probly alcohol. Or is salvia harmless and I paranoid?

Also I smoke bud regularly will salvia irritate my lungs. I dont smoke anything else.

Well, if you have a good trip, then chances are you'll feel good afterwords.  If you have a bad trip that exposes problems and insecurities in your life, then you may be a bit depressed.

Give it a few years.

the suddenly intense experience is so confusing that you can go sulky afterwards for an hour or three.
but the general lift in your spirits for a couple of days afterwards is very common.

the whole "coming-down" part and after effects can be very anti-depressant like. but the high itself, most of the time, I find very dysphoric.

"effects in lab mice after giving them salvia."

What? But how could their little paws hold the pipe? No opposable thumbs, dont'cha'know? Although I for one would pay good money for a show like that.

personally, the expreiences are overall good, however there have been "bad trips" ive had. one in particular i was overly sensitive to negativity from my gf, and got to the point that i was getting really angry with her. she didnt really do or say anything out of the norm, but in my mind she was like a bull in a china shop, i had to isolate myself in the bedroom until my trip was over.
the "pins and needles" arent fun either...

i dont really think they meant depressive effects like unhappy aftereffects, i think they meant depressant effects like that of alcohol.

IME sally is depressant as in sedative-hypnotic, but it is anti-depressant emotionally most of the time (occasionally it'll take the wind out of me when smoked, but never when used sublinqually).

Very antidepressive.

I smoked it and didn't even breakthrough but the immense body load and the way it made me feel was so relaxing. I was close to a breakthrough but ran out :frown:

The rest of that day I felt very good. I had a migraine for 3 days up to that day, and the afterglow made it go away for a while.

Sally's odd...
