Need a Stealth Way to Dry Shrooms

Does anyone know of any stealth ways (i.e. can fit in a small closet and doesn't draw attention) to dry shrooms? My roommates are pretty paranoid, they know I'm growing mushrooms but don't know they are cubes, and if they know about the drying process they will know what they are for :-P Any suggestions?
Thanks, Mike

Get a food dehydrator and do while there gone, it won't take long. Other wise get some desiccant and put em in a box in your closet.

desiccant is messy and is a hassle. your best bet is to scour local thrift stores such as goodwill, salvation army, and the like for a used food dehydrator. i found one for $9. it is awesome. i put it in my closet and it is very "stealth"--e.g, the gf has no idea. plus, a dehydrator works in 12 hours or so whereas w/ desiccant it takes days. desiccant is really only used for the fan dry method, in which you fan dry your shrooms first and then use the desiccant to absorb whatever water is left. also, i only put my babies on the top rack of my dehydrator--it has like 6 racks--and i leave the lid off, thereby reducing the amount of heat to which my little spiritual advisors are exposed. gl to you.

Drierite is not "messy", as long as you are not a slob about it. However it does take longer and if you can get a food dehydrator it would be better.
What you do is get the drierite and put it in a container with a lid, the lid should have holes in it so there is breathing room, get something to put the shrooms on that can stay right over the drierite without touching and wait until they are dry.

All I did was put them by a fan and they went from 15.6gs to 2.4 overnight.

You spread the drierite evenly on the bottom of a container you can seal (must be as close as possible to air tight). Put 2 - 3 layers of screen over the drierite and spread the mushrooms evenly across the screen. Seal the container and you shouldn't have to wait much longer than a day or two for the shrooms to completely dry out.

lol, it sucks how dramatic the change in weight/size is when they are dry. You would probably like the Texas strain, they hardly shrink upon drying.

ahh, yeah I never used dririte, and for some reason thought it needed breathing room, but I guess that makes sense since the dririte would prob absorb moister from the air and only slow the process.

desiccant drying in the fridge is the best way to preserve the psilocybin and psilocin in the mushroom. Using a heat type dehydrator is a poor choice as any heat at all will oxidize the psilocybin and especially the psilocin. This is NOT stealthy, but set up a desiccant box airtight in the fridge and try that. You will preserve so much psilocybin/psilocin as opposed to room temp or heated dry especially.

the losses due to using a dehydrator are greatly exaggerated and likely negligible. furthermore, you can, if you were inclined, purchase a low-heat dehydrator which would nullify the argument. a dehydrator without the lid on, such as how i use mine, is like blowing warm air over the shrooms... moreover, it is extremely unlikely that you'll be able to notice loss of potency if you use a dehydrator. in any case, you would need to extract the psilocybin beforehand to get a baseline measurement of psilocybin and psilocin content and then perform numerous experiments with different drying methods to see if they have any effect on the psilo. content once dried.
regardless, you won't find anyone suggesting you put them in the oven or in direct sunlight, but you will find many knowledgeable veterans who use dehydrators for their ease, efficiency, and speed. anyways, go with what you want. to each his own. gl to you.

Ok i have owned a nesco for about ohhhh maybe 3-4 years i have been drying using 95f,110f,115f,140f,160f,180f(the one at 180f wasnt with the nesco). And have never noticed potency loss at all (I use isolated strains so cant blame that ha! lol)also once dry psilocin is no longer present since it does oxidize when drying no matter the method used whether it be fan, desiccant, dehydrator etc.

Well, i went out to walmart today and found a 10inch box fan that was cheap and is supposed to be "whisper quiet". I tried to find some desiccant but the people in gardening and in arts and crafts wasnt sure what it was or where to find it.

The 10inch box fan is plugged in to the outlet right next to my closet and the cord is covered by a wall hanging on the ground. With the closet doors closed you cant even hear anything when the fans on high. So thats a good thing. Now i just need to get some desiccant if the fan doesn't completely dry them.

I like the De-Moist Brand. Usually you can find this stuff in the Hardware Dept. or near the household cleaning supplies. This product comes in a canvas bag that you hang up in closet, basement, etc. What I like about this stuff is that it's reusable. You just bake it for an hour at 4000 and your good to go again. what I like to do is make a pouch of this stuff from tyvek and put it in the jars with the Mushrooms I need to store and it keeps them nice and crisp. I use an impulse sealer to make the pouches but they can be sealed anyway you like. And you don't have to worry about that stuff touching your shrooms.
