    #6929607 - 05/17/07 10:47 AM (16 years, 8 months ago)

so i got some crumbled cakes spawned to coir colonizing right now and i was wondering since they are not in see through tubs how will i know when they are fully colonized?

should i teat them as cakes and wait till the top is fully colonized then give them a week or so before i put a casing layer on?

do they even have to be fully colonized all the way through? or just the tops?

any help is appreciated. thanks guys

The top should be completely colonized. I good point of reference is when the mycelium starts crawling up the sides of the tub. When top is fully covered, add casing. Incubatte another 3 or so days, then patch and fruit.

I dont think waiting a whole extra week after top is fully colonized is necessary.

necessary no optimal yes

gives the mycelium time to digest the things that it has colonized and you will get better pinning/fruiting i have found waiting the extra week
