Grow Kit Advice (Newb Question)

Good day one and all.
I shall be doing my first grow very shortly. I am considering purchasing a "Grow Kit" such as this one.
I'll be using some of these "spawn bricks" inside it.
Would anyone be so kind as to comment on any potential issues/problems or benefits in doing a first grow this way?
Thanks,
PR

Besides the fact you could assemble one for cheaper based on knowledge that could be obtained with a few hours of reading here, beginner kits like that can be very good for teaching you the theory and mechanics of mushroom growing. If you feel worried about making one yourself, and have the exrta cash, good luck! Welcome to the hobby!

For a lot less than the cost of this kit at 120 Eur, you can buy all the components and a variety of spore specimens to set yourself up forever.
Invest some time reading. If you are impatient and want immediate results then this is not the right hobby. IMHO, if you end up loving it as so many of us do, you'll end up spending more, but by choice not necessity.

Here's a cheap grow kit that they have at wal-mart:
Rubbermaid container: 5-10 dollars Mirro PC: 20 dollars (2 at a thrift store) Perlite: 3 dollars Organic Brown rice flower: 3$ for 2 lbs Vermiculite: 8$ for 13 cubic feet Mason jars: 5-10 dollars (depending on size) Spore print/syringe: free to 35$
In grand total you'd learn more, and spend less if you put everything together yourself.
PS: well, maybe they don't have the spore syringe at wal-mart. But they should! :-P

Almost no one on the shroomery will give you advice about kits,Its not that they are trying to be rude, its because most of the people here are do it yourselfers.I Am not one of them,Being the most unhandy person on the planet I wish I knew of a kit to recommend you but I don't.Make a tub in tub incubator buy allot of jars and allot of rye and read, read, read.Keep trying and keep reading and persistence will serve you well. And regardless of what everyone here says,You will not find vermiculite or a decent pressure cooker in a real life retail store(Well not where I live at least)Check the vendors here and you will find what you need...Good luck

Hi all,
Thankyou kindly for your collective advice. You've got me thinking that maybe is the way I'll go.
I certainly intend to enjoy the full experience by creating my own cakes and innoculating them myself, taking spore prints, and finding out as much as I can, but I may get a kit, a couple of bricks and see what results that gives me first.
I'd have a ready fruiting chamber that way too, I guess.
All in all, you've given me food for thought, thankyou kindly.
