Can anyone recommend a good weed whacker?

I'm renting this house and one of the terms of the lease is that I have to do the yard work. I've been mowing since I moved in but my landlord is hinting around that I should be trimming around the trees, by the hedges, etc. So I guess I need a trimmer. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to spend more than 100 dollars. Surely some of y'all do yard work. Thanks.

Damn, son. 250 dollars! This is just to keep the landlady happy, I don't really care how it looks. I do want it to last for some years, but I don't need nothing fancy. Also, is a straight shaft or curved shaft better?

Thanks for the replies, y'all. Appreciate the input. But now I'm bummed that it's gonna cost me so much cash. I guess I'm lucky that she left a lawn mower for me to use.

Thanks Tyler. That sounds decent. I'll probably get that. Vinsue - 5 shrooms for your great suggestion. I wish I had a goat. WildCard - I actually started doing that, but realized I have a large yard and small scissors.

Stihls are very good, it takes running over one with a vehicle to break them(as I recently tested, strictly for scientific purposes of course ). They start within 3 pulls.

Goats arn't actually hard to come by, and they are pretty cheap. I know of a couple places that rent them out by the month just for this purpose.
