The only psilocybes from yesterday's pan hunt:

They're good at hiding. Here's all I found in that 0,5m² spot:

After a few minutes in the dehydrator as I was preparing the next tray of pans:

Only 6g dried... Oh well. Got 16g of pan. cyanescens as well. Which is ok but less than normal. It's really cold nowadays, temperatures dropping down to 5°C at night. A couple of valleys that usually produce a lot was completely devoid of mushrooms.
Weather should get better from next week, if the meteorologists are to be believed.

Very cool!  I am thinking this might be a new species, though there are some names that might apply.  I don't think the spore shape of these matches P. subaeruginascens, at least in the collections from Africa I have studied.

Which other species do you think it could be, if it isn't subaeruginascens or something new?

Are they eating a main substrate you can tell? Certain kind of wood?

I find them mostly in rice husks. Sometimes in rich soil. Very rarely in buffalo dung.

Amazing find you have
Do they also grow in extreme heat and humidity there? Or in coldest time of yr? Or year round?

This is the coldest time of the year. Been 5-10° the last few days. Rain and thick fog. I find them year around but late autumn is the best time. A few weeks after rice harvest. Spring is often too dry.

I'm sure there's some cool species there. Pans and cubes you can find all over the place, of course.
Keep looking!
I'll post some photos from my next outing, in about a week or so. Doubt I'll find something else than these and pans. Maybe the cubes start popping up after some sunny days. I have found other psilocybe species but they're very rare. Probably more species in the woods too.
