Mold or Bruise?
    #28597822 - 12/25/23 06:08 PM (1 month, 2 days ago)

Hey all,

Been able to avoid asking this question due to all the resources available on this site up until now.

It’s quite dry where I am at the moment, so I’ve been fanning and misting to keep humidity up.

The monotub is doing well, with quite a few pins popping up that I hope to be able to harvest in a week or so but noticed this when I went to check on them today.

It looks green to me, which is worrying but I also don’t have the best eye sight for color.

Is this the start of green mold or bruising?

Thank you in advance. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!

Get a q-tip and lightly brush the area that you suspect to be mold. If you get any green on it then it's probably mold, otherwise it's bruising.

Stop fanning and misting constantly you want passive FAE, constant fanning is what's drying out your mycelium, keep the surface conditions as per the guide to proper surface conditions

Just did your q-tip suggestion and nothing came up with it, so I’m holding out that it’s just bruising there.

Thank you for the guide, I’ll take a look over it and resist the urge to mist/fan, haven’t quite narrowed down my surface conditions so I am probably overcompensating.

It's not really a reliable test. Mold doesn't always rub off and bruising can rub off.

A better picture would help to be sure.

Yeah the quality makes it hard to tell. The bump on the left almost looks like a pin but because of the quality and no perspective on the size its hard to tell.

Added two photos

The one showcasing the corner of the tub is the spot I was worried about, it didn’t grow overnight so I’m a little less concerned.

Though I’m still working on surface condition as it looks dry to my untrained eye 😂
