Does anyone else feel there are two phases to cannabis?

I feel like it's always similar for me: there's an initial phase which is more energetic, anxiogenic, and active. That lasts a few hours, then there's a second phase that is far more sedative, during which it is much easier to sleep, the anxiety fades somewhat and the euphoria becomes more enjoyable.
I've experienced this phenomenon where I've had a heart-rate jump on cannabis, then hours later I am asleep and I sleep for hours with no trouble at all.
There's a comeup for other drugs, sure, but cannabis is different to me in having so much clearer of a sedative phase.
I'm always curious as to how the molecule THC can do such seemingly opposite things, stimulation and sedation, one after the other. And it seems to have properties of many other drugs - it is somewhat dissociative and somewhat psychedelic, while doing neither fully. And whether it is one or the other of these things seems to depend on a lot, not just set or setting but the strain of weed, the person's tolerance and past experiences, the form it's taken in and how long ago they took it.

Yeah same here. The first hour or two is more stimulating. After hour two or so I get real sleepy. This is especially true if I take dabs. If I eat it it’s all sleepy time for me.

That’s why I love first consuming it right before going into the gym for a workout. Plus now I’m extra happy to go workout for my cannabis reward!

Yeah but how many of you can do a bong rip right before bed and fall right asleep?
I think it's more of what you need to be doing, it's a stimulant when you need a stimulant and a depressant when you need a depressant.
I do find that if you smoke early in the day ya do kinda get a little dull if you forget to keep smoking though.
If I'm already hungry and I go to smoke right before breakfast, I'll often find my appetite is suddenly gone, eating 20 or 30 minutes after doing weed is always 10x better.
-------------------- If you can’t tell what you desperately need, it’s probably sleep.

Yeah I've gotten that, paradoxical appetite suppression if I'm already hungry, about to eat and then get high. Like it flipped the hunger switch in the opposite direction.

Definitely find that there are two phases!
Especially at night or if I'm tired. The second phase isn't so sleepy for me if I smoke in the morning or early afternoon, more of just a gentle fadeout back into reality.
I also feel like there are definite 'levels' of high. Like its a step function where I suddenly drop a level or gain a level instead of a spectrum.
Level 1- just feeling good, relaxed.
Level 2- some minor "heh, I'm high" moments music sounds maybe slightly more interesting but no true enhancements.
Level 3- noticeable thought tangents. Active creativity, able to visualize abstract ideas easier, slight music enhancement, perhaps very minor closed eye visuals when listening to music in the dark. Minor euphoric effects, sun feels great, wind feels tender, etc. Enhanced sex drive. Time is noticabley slower.
Level 4- Harder to convey ideas to others, hard to keep track of thoughts as they spiral quickly on thought tangents with very concrete visualization of these abstract ideas. A high level of music enhancement, closed eye visuals with music in the dark. Intense horniness soon after smoking, but no sex drive later in the high. Psychedelic visuals like those in How to Change Your Mind or Fantastic Fungi start looking absolutely incredible with color enhancement. Some body high. Hard to gauge time passing.
Level 5- Borderline nonverbal, bizarre thought tangents overwhelm and make conveying any of the ideas extremely difficult. Intense closed eye visuals with music, strong euphoric body high. Food and bed sound amazing. Very little sense of time.
Level 6- Unable to formulate thoughts, much less words. Overwhelming closed eye visuals flickering rapidly and non comprehension of what the eyes are seeing while open. Distressing inability to think real thoughts while lost in a sea of static, flashing colors and noises, music is incomprehensible and seems to dilate infinitely.
Currently level 3, we'll see how much sense this makes. Anyone else operate on "levels"?

this makes sense but at level 3 in this series I see and feel what looks like sparks of colored energy in the air and my body, and I hear a ticking sound ~6hz.
