All things Hapé and Rapé

I did some searching and didn't find many threads on the subject. All that I found were also very old. I was going to put this in ODD however the old tread I did find started in ODD but the Mods moved it here. I would rather it be here anyway. Who is using Hapé? What is your experience, how/when do you use it? How often? What are your favorite blends. How do they effect you differently? Do you feel like you have learned anything from it? Do you find it addictive?
I first tried it this past summer. A person who I was hanging out with and was experienced administered it. I have been interested in tobacco as a master teacher plant, despite it being so demonized in the USA.
I recently read the book "The Cosmic Serpent" by Jeremy Narby I highly recommend it for people interested in plant medicines and plant teachers.
My first Hapé experience was in the early morning around 4am after a night of ayahuasca. I was wired from the aya and when I took the Hapé it made me immensely body aware. My thoughts were focused and calm. I sat in a chair with my feet pressed flat on the floor as I took deep breaths my feet felt like tree trunks rooted into the ground. It grounded and centered me and 30 mins later I felt calm and ready for bed.

Do you make your own Hapé blend and if so what plants and rituals do you incorporate?
I used commercial snuff about 30 years ago when I was in college but as a cig smoker at the time I don't recall it doing much.
Personally I have always stayed away as a reformed smoker, I am therefore interested to know if you smoke cigarettes or vape nicotine and whether you find Hapé to create cravings?

I recently bought some at a shop on Haight St in SF. Most people buy it online. I don't smoke cigs but will have an occasional cigar. I want to get some mapacho (Nicotiana rustica) smokes but no one sells them in my area and, can't seem to find a good online source. I might try and get some seeds and grow it this spring.
I am wondering the same thing if you start to crave Hapé with use? The book I mentioned above along with his most recent book goes into the differences between mass manufactured tobacco and indigenous use. Prob best to stay away since you had a habit and were able to kick it, but our western cigs are made to be heavily addictive and habit forming. My plan is to try and keep it a ceremonial thing rather than daily use.
The snuff I bough, I have only used twice before meditating so I don't have much of a relationship with it yet, however it has not been anywhere near what I experienced after aya ceremony.

Downloaded it and started to read it a few months ago and it looked interesting. Can you tell my why you highly recommend it?

Kalendula, timing could have accentuated my enjoyment, but I had just come off of reading David Abram's "The Spell of the Sensuous" which speculated on humans' connection, or new lack of connection to "nature" through the perverse effects of written language. It to me was pointing out the metaphysical dissonance that evolving technology has created, ie a mirror facing a mirror can only repeat images rather than introduce new ones.
These ideas dovetailed with Narby's book where he told an entertaining story but lead the reader down the path of accepting nuance, the unknown, and holding contradicting ideas abound. He wove modern science with indigenous knowledge comparing an understanding of what spirit or substance is, and relating it to forms we have discovered via microscopic imagery ie DNA.
He took on such vastly different practices and made comparisons to what both ideologies talk about and have an understanding of, but seem different only because of their own world view and methods of explanation.
Both books are highly speculative but well written and well researched so I found them very worthwhile if for nothing else than for thought experiments.

The last few weeks I have been working with Hapé every few days mainly with light doses in the evening at the beginning of a meditation session. It has been very grounding and has helped me center myself. I also recently tripped on mushrooms and went quite deep.
I’m not sure if the Hapé contributed to the intensity because the mushrooms were wild Psilocybe cyanescens and were very potent to begin with but I have found it helpful for alleviating angst and dread.
