ok cool I might be able to get that..are you talking about straw in bag or bale? Also is there a thread on this straw substrate? Horse shit isn't a problem to get..its just the smell from pasteurising it, might upset neighbours and more so honey. Appreciate the reply.

Bales are great, one bale for 10 bucks will do shitloads of tubs, a bit of chopping to do but it works great. Wheat straw is typically used and there certainly are a few straw prep teks out here

Chopped straw bedding works great. Make sure if you get chopped straw it doesn't have any additives to keep the dust down (often molasses or oil). Chopped straw can often have wheat or other whole cereal grains still in with it. It helps to bounce the stuff over a mesh like hardware cloth before prepping for use. The loose grains are heavy and fall through the holes leaving the majority of the straw on top of the screen.
If you leave the grains in there it tends to green out much sooner.
Straw works really well if you do it right.

I would jar up the hpoo and pasteurise it with an open jar with a different media (straw?) in the same pan with a thermometer in it. That way, you can check the temps but not have open jars of horse shit cooking in your kitchen. I've done it before and it works great.

Horse shit doesn't smell if aged properly. I don't pick my turds unless they've been there awhile. Explain to her that horse turds are the cleanest of all the turds and basically are just tiny compressed bricks of straw.
