Unidentified contamination...?
    #26822931 - 07/14/20 12:21 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

I am new to this forum and impressed by the knowledge I find here. I am in the middle of my first patch, however, in two of my ten jars I have something weird growing. I looked at every pic of contamination I can find but nothing looks even similar to it. Maybe somebody here can advise?

Thank you. This is what I hoped for, however, I showed the photo to a friend who showed it to somebody who knows somebody and the slightly arrogant response was that I should take a course because I clearly don't know how to sterilize my stuff. So I will birth my culture. Since they are in different stages should I birth them at the same time or is it ok to do it staggered? In other words, wait with the jars that are not so far in the process.

Go ahead and do them all now bud but it's up to you, you just let them go a little long that's all, nothing really to worry about, unless there is some underlined prob we can't see?

Get ready to mix erm with your sub, give them the sniff test first... if they smell good... your good to go

Good lk

Part of the reason they are colonizing so poorly is that you’re using the wrong jars. You want wide mouth half pints. Those look like regular mouth which means the jar is taller than it is wide. This will cause the media to compress in the jar and cause it to stall or colonize super slow.
