Psilocybe Cyanescens first grow attempt

This is my first time trying grains, I went with wbs. Steeped for a couple of hours until the grains had swollen and then dried. My PC is shite (no pressure gauge), so I kept the jars steaming for 2 hours to be safer.
Inoculated with a home made syringe in a SAB, first time making one. Used too many spores probably.
Just looking for someone with a better eye than me to chip on in whether this looks about right or not...

Doesn't look too far off the pics in this thread (major respect to keeno, the man, the myth, the legend who very kindly provided the prints!!)
But ultimately I don't trust myself not to have fucked this up first time.
Edit: to a love icon!!

Doesn't look to bad to me, seems a little wet towards the bottom but nothing to bad at all, id say nice job! MS to grains or WBS is always kinda risky

I know everyone says agar isn't as intimidating as people think, but I'm just petridishedfied of it for some reason... All in the mind I guess haha

No problem! Haha its pretty easy actually, I use a no pour agar using half pint mason jars and it works pretty good, just mix agar and your nutrients with some water pour into jars, wrap in foil and steam sterilize or pc and your good to go

good vibes brother
looks a bit soggy, so keep an eye out. also, 2 hours sounds a bit of a short time imo but who knows?
you've deffo made a start. and if they go manky, you can just buzz what good grains you have onto cardboard, give them lots of FAE, see what takes
smash it!

I'm not convinced, when you zoom in there is fine filament grey mycelium present which is likely not mushroom based, pic 3 most obviously when zoomed..

I think I see the spot your talking about, I think it's just the mycelium beginning to spread that way, but I could be wrong

Give it a few more days and recheck, mycelium doesn't usually look like that

Think I know what you mean here - part of me thinks this might actually something on the outside of the glass that's catching the light in a funny way...
Also think some of the wetness might be because I squirted the spore solution down the sides a bit, so it's probably pooled at the bottom slightly :s
I'll have another look tomorrow and get more pics

Any hope? Or any way to salvage anything?
Also, any chance you could highlight what you mean by fine filament grey mycelium? And also what the significance of the wet spot is so I know what to look for next time?

You could spawn it outside. Putting woodlovers on grain is not the best idea. Bugs could eat the grains once outside.

You can spawn the grain to woodchips to make an outdoor patch to

So soaked cardboard / wood chips, that sort of thing? I have a balcony that's a few floors up so hopefully that will help with the bugs slightly...

I have a few p.cyan in agar and my plan was to buy some woodchips at Home Depot and soak/clean them. then pc them. Drop a wedge. I would still use those jars you have there. Just mix them up in woodchips. Something viable could make it

Ace, good stuff, I'll have to go get some wood chips asap tomorrow!
Really hope they can hold their own and produce something... Once I've got a patch going, is it easy enough to take a load of colonised chips and spread that to a new spot?

Grain spawned to woodchips should work good i think, yeah you can definitely spread the colonized woodchips to create more patches

Being a right inpatient little fuck I decided to go scavenge at a local park. After picking up a small amount of woody shit, realised I was standing under these trees, so have flaked a small bag of bark off em haha

Presume this stuff will work just fine? Gonna basically steam/boil it for an hour or so directly in the water and hope it doesn't turn to total mush.
Then in terms of using the grains, I guess I try to only take the whiteish ones? Or just dump the lot in? Got 3 half pint jars all probably under 30% colonised
Thanks for all the advice guys, really appreciate it
