after a frustrating couple of months i'm finally seeing some strong growth in my quart jars of rye.
also I have about a dozen pint and half pint jars showing absolutely nothing after 2+ weeks, no contaminated stuff just nothing at all. how long would you wait before giving up and starting over? could i re-inject instead of doing the whole pressure cooking thing?

The one time I did a spore syringe direct to grain (which is what I assume you did judging from the tiny hole in the lid) I had a few jars where nothing happened. My hypothesis is that shaking the syringe just isn’t sufficient to evenly distribute the spores. I also was foolishly heating my spawn storage area and the jars got too hot so between low/uneven spores in some jars and a hostile environment, a few jars were bound to be duds.
Now I just do agar -> grain or grain -> grain. While I am still have occasional jars where molds get in, I never have any where I get zero mycellial growth any more.
I think re-injecting the duds is probably a bad idea. Are you using spore syringes you ordered somewhere?

Yeah, I've got some good agar going that I'll be using for this next inoculation but I did use a syringe as I was out of options.

I'd suggest not re-injecting; two weeks is not that long. I've had jars that don't show anything for at least three. Patience.

if your using MS just shoot the whole thing into the jar. Takes too long shooting little bits of spores. Quicker = less chance of bacteria. But its fully up to you if you want to innoc with small amounts of spores.
