Noticed something interesting in clone cultures

So, I threw a pin on a petri dish and the other day I took 3 transfers from different spots on that plate. I noticed that all three plates show a very similar growth pattern. 90 degrees or so of faster, ropier growth, and 270 degrees of slightly slower, more even, less rhizo growth, all with a bit of a counterclockwise twist.
I don't know if it actually means much, but it almost seems that instead of having three different sectors, or combinations of sectors, all three plates have a similar mix of genetics.

The similarity between the 3 is crazy! Keeping a watch on this thread for someone that knows to provide an answer. I'm interested too

I disagree, even a clone still isn't a true isolate and even if it was environmental factors would still cause it to grow a little differently.

I didn't use any sort of photo editing. I honestly think it's just a coincidence, but I thought it was neat.

not very surprising at all, you could have took 3 different pins and put them on 3 different dishes and made 9 transfers and all 9 of those plates would probably look pretty similar. The mycelium appearance has a lot to do with the type of media you're growing on. and mycelium appearance has very little to do with eventual performance
nice agar work though +5
