Liner for trays in a mono?
    #23603231 - 09/01/16 11:35 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I see guys doing trays in monotubs and was wondering if you line them still? Seen a post on here the other day where dude had a tray unlined and it was pinning like crazy on the underside. Every time I see nice tray grows I always try to zoom in but never see a liner. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough?

i use a liner to make cleaning the tub easier after the sub is done.
first mono i tried was a bitch to clean.. i just tossed it since i was
moving anyway..

i also dun wan pins on the bottom of a tub. although sometimes they happen and are
misshaped and ugly

I colonize my trays then drop them in a sgfc but Lil old me said he tries to pack his trays on the sides with his fingers and it helps with side pins side pins don't hurt they just are a pain to get out

Lining everything monotub-ish is a good rule of thumb. I neglected to line a smaller "mini-mono tray thingy" and had way too many side pins.

IMO - If you're conditions are good - and you don't line your tub/tray - you WILL have some side pins. It's inevitable due to the micro-climate created in between substrate block and side of chamber.

All of my monotubs are lined because of:
-Easy clean up
-No side pins
-Ease of Harvest (Pull the whole substrate block up and out of tub to harvest full canopies with ease.)

I'm not really sure why anyone would NOT line their tubs/trays??

I like that idea too. I want to do more smaller grows. I want to know for a fact, more or less prove myself to myself, what the max ammount I can harvest from like a single quart jar, or maybe a single pint jar, spawned to a small ammount of bulk. Thinking maybe doing some pop bottles.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks morty

Fuck liners lol. Haven't used them for a long ass time now. Pressure washers ftw.

Pressure washers?
Is there anything special you recommend when not using a liner? Like spawning techniques? Or just fruiting conditions dictate wether it's gonna have side pins like crazy?
I want my trays to look like that Mad! Those are nice

Casings around 1/4" thick thrown directly into fruiting when cased, proper misting, and lots of fae. That's about all I do lol.

Google pressure washers. It takes less than 10 seconds to clean a tub with one lol.

The most I've pulled off a qt was just about two onions off 5 or 6 flushes with straight cased oats I don't know if the older flushes were potent or not because they dried with others and into the sealer

Basically if the conditions are better up top the sub will put it's energy to that area right ?

Yep! You need to keep the surface conditions better than the sides. Easier said than done right?

What kind of casing do you use Mad?
I've never cases anything, but every time I see a real nice canopy the sub is always cased. I feel like casing isn't stressed enough to noobs. Like it will produce without one but having one seems like it would produce the best climate possible.

Well I take it out after it colonises and pput it in there I got about 15 dry grams first flush then it varied from 3-9 after that I'd get two or three fatties then like ten small ones

Did you see pastys total weights in the end of that clone test? Those were all two qt in each tub he killed it pretty much getting everything dialed in right you can have some killer flushes off small amounts of spawn pasty says you get better BE off smaller tubs which is makes sense

 yes! I mean people were complaining about how awful it is to clean. That's what I did to solve the cleaning problem xD also had one for cleaning cars and my siding, so it just fits perfectly :P.

Idk noob. There's lots of Canadians who suck on here too :P. But yeah idk we have some epic Canadian growers here too.

50/50+ casing. Tho the first tray was done with a pure cactus soil casing. I feel noobs should do trays with casings. Much more forgiving. I've seen nice pinsets on trays without casings tho.
