Here is a first find for me.  :rockon:

It was found in mixed riparian forest. This mushroom was very big. His neighbors were way past prime, so i didn't take a picture, but they were even bigger. The pocket knife in the second pic is 3.5" closed, so that gives it some scale. There's a volval sac with a collar seen in the second and third pics. There was no bruising noted. The final defining characteristic for me was the pith inside the stipe.

I believe it's Amanita pantherina var. velatipes.

If someone could confirm before I mark this one in the book, I would be grateful.

I'd call that Amanita velatipes.

More naming confusion, because some references call it A. velatipes, and others call it A. pantherina var velatipes

I like A. velatipes better, because it's more concise.
