Mushroom ID Request

Habitat: Found in cow pies next to a pond with grass around cow pies. Cambodia, South East Asia (during the beginning of rainy season)Altitude 18 m (59 ft)
Gills: Gills are like you see in the photos. Not sure how to describe them.
Stem: Stem was 3cm and shorter, thin, white, ring 2/3 or 3/4 the way up.
Cap: Caps were rounded to almost flat. Largest one was a little smaller than American dime size. Color was same creamy white as stem with a little rust color.
Spore print color: Spore print is dark purple, almost black.
Bruising: Seems to not bruise or I waited too long after picking to do a bruise check.
Other information: Smells like old wet wood but not very strong. Neither bad nor great. Kinda like a damp forest?

They might be Psilocybe cubensis but I doubt it, they are definitely psychoactive. Cool find! If you can you should save a few so someone with a microscope can properly identify them. As far as I know it doesn't match anything that normally grows in Cambodia but I know next to nothing about the specific mushrooms that grow in your area.

I think I might have asked this before, but how can you be sure they are psychoactive without having first confirmed the species? Is it purely off of bruising? I don't even see that much bruising

How do you not see that blue bruising?
Especially at the base of the mushrooms in the second pic.

Don't get me wrong, I do see some. I said not that much. I don't think I can see much at all in the first picture, and it seems that a decent bit of the discolouration is due to spores. I guess I'm used to the ludicrous bruising displayed by P. subaeruginosa

They look like Psilocybes and they are bluing so it's probably safe to say they are active. The same thing with Gymnopilus, Pluteus and Panaeolus.

Is it safe to take your response as a positive ID on Psilocybe mushrooms and collect more of the same kind?
Please excuse my ignorance, but you mentioned that a microscope should be used for an exact identification. Would a mycologist have to do this or can it be done by a layman? Is it possible to upload pictures from the microscope here for identification by a trusted identifier?
Thank you for your time.

I'd wait for a second opinion before you consume anything if you are unsure, we're humans and make mistakes too.

to answer your micro question, yes, you can do it if you want and have a decent microscope. toy scopes for kids don't really cut the mustard when it comes to looking at spores and fine features above say, 40x.
for techniques and guides, a search on here might be helpful but this link might also be one of the best ever (and created by someone who posts on the forum if i remember correctly, i got to thank them for doing it) and you might also find it useful and concise.

Whatever it is you've found, you need to document it with photographs and typed notes!
This could be a moment worthy of study!
