Grow Log (first attempt) 1

Hello everyone. I'm really excited to have recently inoculated my first batch of jars. I bought a set of 6 pre-made jars from a supplier and injected them last Thursday (3/14) with I have them sitting in a closet that's generally between 75 and 78 degrees. This morning I took a look at the jars and I'm starting to see some "growth". What it is, I'm not sure yet and that's where you come in. The instructions I have say I should start seeing growth in 5-9 days and it should be bright white. I'm seeing some streaks on the inside of the glass where I injected the spores, but it's more of a milky color, not the bright white that I've seen in photos. I'm attaching photos of a few of the jars. I'm hoping that this is just the beginning stages and the color will change. I was extremely careful when injecting the spores, but I guess anything can happen. It doesn't look like mold to me, but I was hoping some of you experts can give me some feedback.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the feedback regarding my first question. I'd like to turn this thread into my grow log since this happens to be my first attempt.
It has been exactly 7 days since I inoculated my jars. Below are the pics of the 6 jars that I have colonizing. I think the progress looks good. For the first 5 days I had them sitting in my closet in complete darkness for 24 hours (minus the time I open the door, etc), but after reading some posts I decided to keep the light on in the closet while I'm at work and then turn it off when I get home so they're roughly on a 12/12 schedule. I also just took the foil off the tops today.
What do you think of the progress after 7 days? They look pretty good to me, but what do I know? I think I could have done a better job injecting the spores in some of them (forgot to shake the syringe), but do you think the others that only have a small bit of growth will eventually colonize the entire jar? Thanks again!

It has been exactly 14 days since I inoculated my jars. One jars looks completely colonized and the others look like they'll be there soon. Would it be ok for me to wait until the last jar is completely colonized and then wait a week before I fruit them all or should I consider fruiting them all separately as they finish colonization/consolidation?
My other question is regarding the SGFC. I bought a kit and they sent me a 16 qt (15 L) Sterilite bin. Is that going to be big enough for 6, 1/2 pint cakes or should I consider using something larger?

You should probably birth as they come along maybe put the ones that are done in the fridge to stop growth untill the others catch up if you wanted to do them all at once

let them consolidate for a week AFTER they reach 100%.as far as birthing goes if it looks like they are only 1-3 days apart from each other then i would say wait and birth them all. if the others are really far behind then birth the ones that are ready. i just find it easier to keep track of development if they are all put in the FC at the same time. for example if you wanted to clone the fastest fruit you can see them all side by side and not have to think which one was fruited first. just

Thanks for the tip! What do you think about the size of the fruiting chamber?

If the cakes fit in there, with some room to spare you're good... I used 67 qt sterlite tubs, and could fit 20 cakes in my tub I believe... maybe more? I dunno, i'm too lazy to click the link in my sig haha!!
Also, you are just fine letting your one cake consolidate longer to birth them all together. I've let cakes consolidate 2-3 weeks, and had much better results than only 1 week consolidation. I watched this using multispore, 20 some cakes, around half had 3 weeks consolidation and half 1 week. The cakes that had 3 weeks to consolidate had a much better pinset and yield. All were grown with the same LC from a single agar wedge based off of an MS inoculation.

Is this cobweb mold that took over the mycelium? [Re: thrasher]

Is this cobweb mold that took over the mycelium? The jar was virtually colonized...on the outside at least. They're all starting to look like this now.

I thought it started to look a little gray and fuzzy but maybe I'm being paranoid. Thanks.

they are looking good man
only advice i have for you is to not pick them up so much.
completely leave them alone... trust me.. i just finished my very first grow. picking them up alot will only stress the mycelium.

Looking great. Agreed on not picking them up as much, although it is hard to resist watching colonization for the first time

So I took a peek this morning and all of my jars are colonized except for one which only has about 1/2 the bottom of the jar to go. Though I am starting to see pins on almost all of the jars, including the one that's not 100% colonized yet. What do I do? I wasn't planning on birthing them until next week. Should I just let them sit there anyway and then birth as planned or do I need to birth them now?
