    #16394632 - 06/17/12 11:27 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

ok so im wondering how long first flush lasts.... because i have a few mushrooms that appear to be growing faster than a bunch of other pins.... i need to know how to tell aborts from good pins and what pins i should leave for 2nd flush.... i never had this happen b4 5-8 pins dooing really well almost mature and about 300 smaller pins that well idk if they are abourts or if i should wait to see if they are growing or if i should leave those for next flush

It's usually pretty obvious which ones have aborted, they stop growing and get much darker than the rest of the fruits.

Also, with MS you're really unlikely to get even flushes, which means your flushes will overlap. which is fine. just pick the mature ones and leave the rest till they are ready. KISS.

Flushes don't come evenly.
Youll have fruits that mature while pins are forming for your second flush. No need to fret. When they're ready, the veils will break on most of them.  There's no exact time as to when to pick, just don't wait too long after the veils tear or you'll end up with a cake covered in spores.

If you've picked all of the mature fruits and you have smallish sized pins you can dunk the substrate with the pins still present.  They'll be fine.  Once you drain the substrate and reintroduce into fruiting conditions, they'll swell up..

Hell, you can dunk a substrate with pretty much any sized pin on it and it'll be fine.  It'll either unveil or swell up when you put it out to fruit again.
