"Drug art" as a means of conveying the unconveyable

I already made a post in Music, art and literature about this, but wanted to say something here also. Yesterday I went to the visionary arts museum in Baltimore and saw a great exhibition up that was all about drugs and drug use in America. The exhibition dealt with the entire spectrum of ideas and sensations surrounding drugs and drug use, from the most enlightening to most frightening. I suggest that anyone in the area who gets a chance should come and see it. It was so cool!
Alex Grey's work in particular got me thinking about human communication. All his art was conveying aspects of the mushroom experience in ways that words cannot. I keep wondering... is art communication? Or is it something else? And if art is communication, a means of transmitting information from one person to another through a work, does that mean that language is an art or does it mean that art is a language? And how do entheogens fit into all of this? Are shrooms God's art/language?
Any thoughts?

I would say art is about communicating with yourself.
which in turn sets off a chain reaction of being able to communicate better with the world around you, and then express you're own piece of art, so that someone else can learn from themselves, what you learned from yourself.

I think art is language...ive made a post about this before, art can capture the true essence of an experience, where as spoken language is a tad..insufficient to describe it. Art is a more powerful of language.

dude, I know where this is going. Some day, when we have super-sophisticated technology, we'll be able to like make plants. All we would have to do is acquire on of these things and start messing with the chemicals within mushrooms. I bet some day we'll be able to program shit into shrooms (like a pre-set trip) and that will be an art form. Tweaking the right chemicals to fire the right pleasure synapsis and trigger the purple and blue wave to wash over you and warm you. I'm really looking forward to it, needless to say
god bless the mighty green god, for he hath bestowed upon me the wondrous idea of painting with trips.
