pie pan test run... what do you think guys?

So I have never done a bulk grow yet and was going to attempt a monotub but only three out of my five WBS jars made it so im going with three lasagna pans instead using Damions coir tek.
BUT!... before I do that i am doi.g a test run to see how this will work out using a foil pie pan and it consists of this recipe:
1- foil pie pan 1- fully colonized BRF jar of GT 1- 1/4 brick of coco coir 1- pint of vermiculite
Basically I just cut Damions coir tek down by 75%. I plan on preparing the coir/verm and then breaking up the cake and mixing it all together, placing contents into the pie pan and covering with aluminum foil and leaving to colonize. Then I will introduce the pan into fruiting and puting into my SGFC unless someone has any other suggestions???
So does this sound like it will work or not?

¼ of a brick= ~2 quarts coir and if your referring to ½ pint brf jars that would be a 1:7ish ratio I would go more towards 1:1 with brf cakes

You mean one 1/2 pint BRF jar to one 1/2 pint coir/verm?

the origional tek is 1:2 but when brf cakes are broken up there susceptible to infection so a 1:1 will aid in quicker colonization.
I personally wouldn't do it with such little spawn just fruit it normal and read up it could very likely fail possibly souring you on bulk.

Haha yeah im not that easily detured by shit like that. If it doesnt work then ill try again. Im not worried about one little cake cause ive got 6 fruiting right now and five more im about to birth in a few days plus 3 quarts of WBS that are about 50% colonized. Im more or less just doing this out od boredom and just wanted to see the consistency of the coir coir/verm mix. And I saw a pic of a pie pan grow and got inspired lol.

you could try it but you would only need less than ¼ of ¼ of a brick. it expands a lot kinda cool to watch and add a bit of verm
get a thermometer and pasturize it at around 170 for an hour.
I doubt the bucket tek would contain enough energy to maintain temp by its self for an hour
moisture content may need checked prior to spawning

I just did a shoebox with ¼ of a brick. I pasteurized it on my stove for about 45 min total then tossed it in a bucket at around 200 after about 90 min it was at 150.
So far so good

You will be amazed when you see the mycelium eat little holes in the aluminum pan!

Really? It will eat holes!? So are you telling me that this isnt going to work at all then? Ive had it colonizing for four days now and took a small peak tonight and so far it looks lime its working.

What method did you use to pasturize it?

I use AL trays the myc does eat holes in it. Its not that big of a deal IME. You can put another one down. I personally just let it colonize in the tray then put the colonized substrate on the bottom of the tray and let it sit on that
