Are the visions "real"?

You know, I've heard good arguments about the visions being no more than reflections of one's ego, and that there is no such thing as alternate realms, that there is only our imagination, and our fears, and curiosities, and our ego.
With salvia, I've heard a LOT about alternate worlds. What do you all have to say about that? Is it really somewhere else? Or is it just a weird dream created by your ego, or your imagination?

I just made a post about my salvia experience in the "I think I'll pass" thread, but to sum up the relevant parts here: I've visited what I call "the zipper world" every time I used it. It's possible that I have a specific image or concept associated with the effects of this drug that my brain conjures every time, or perhaps I only reinforced that image with further salvia use. Intuition, however, tells me that salvia does take you "somewhere else." Perhaps not a different place, but to a different plane of existence. It's very, very strange.

Maybe the salvia just has the same way of redirecting our normal experiences in to its strange world of experience. Maybe thats why we are all having a similar experience, not because it is "real", but because we are all for the most part smoking the same stuff, and this same stuff has a specific way it effects each and every user.
On lsd for instance, my faces warps in the mirror, happens to my friend too. But thats not real, is it? Isn't it just that the substance is effecting us both in the same ways because its the same substance?

I don't mean similar experiences across people, I mean similar experiences across trips for me, that were unique to me, as far as I know. I'm fully open to the idea that it's all in my head, and it probably is. It just seemed and felt too strange to dismiss completely, and I'm quite a skeptic!

IMO/IME salvia shows us another dimension. An alternate reality if you will.

It really depends how far out you go with Salvia and if you are able to totally pass the ego loss stage.
Sometimes in the lower levels I get the zipper visuals and cartooney stuff/people ect... These visuals don't seem real. It has popped me into the other realities altogether though and to get there I had to skinride/possess another person that was there. It was very real feeling but didnt last long :-(.

If you ever played ‘The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past’ in your youth, then salvia, for me, is like using the magic mirror in that game.
I don’t think the realm I end up in is objectively real, but I don’t really care either - the subjective experience is sufficiently real to explore and learn from.
A wonderful plant.

Salvia used to show me glimpses of the future, i could never make much of it because I was tripping face and everything in the vision was out of context, but when that moment in time came that I had seen, i knew this is what I had seen.

In the dark corner of your mind where other places exist. It can become real! That's why people go crazy and have bad trips.

It's just a weird, scary drug. I've never had any of the "Normal Psychedelic Epiphanies" on salvia. Just scary, pant shittingly bad times.

yeah thats the lower levels I was speaking of. It is where this reality breaks down to reveal other realities. It is hard to get past that stage sometimes but once you do you WILL KNOW IT and the fear will vanish to AWE and amazement.
