I have read neither, and I've never seen a clockwork orange...

I haven't read a clock work orange (though I've seen it). Based on what I've seen of the movie and what I've read, definitely Slaughter House 5.

I know clockwork orange was an awesome movie, and books are almost always better than movies so .  Either way you'll get to both eventually so it doesn't really matter.

I just read Slaughterhouse Five and I was not really a fan.  Way too disjointed.

Hunter Thompson, sometimes I get lost in the political bits, but it's always entertaining

I've read them boh and they're both awesome. But I say read A Clockwork Orange, then watch the movie. I think the book and movie have pretty different feels to them.

i've read both, and they're both good.

i'd read clockwork first though, as it's shorter.

Agreed, Kubrick's movie definitely needs to be seen if you read the book. Slaughter-House Five is a really good one, Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors. It's pretty crazy with the time travelin' and aliens and such.

Slaughter house five is amazing, obviously
A clockwork orange is amazing if you can get past/get with the lingo used in it. It is much better than the movie, although I am a fan of the movie as well. I think Kubrick did a great job, but the book is obviously better.
Either way, they're both good. Read both!
