Cakes not pinning
    #13822012 - 01/20/11 06:01 PM (13 years, 10 days ago)

I've had my B+ cakes in a SGFC for 10 days and they still haven't pinned yet. I think i've done everything right. It has holes on all 6 sides, i mist 4 times a day and fan 12 times a day, and temp is around 65-75. I live in the desert and the outside humidity is less than 20% during the day. I don't have a hygrometer so i don't know what its like inside the chamber.

I got a hygrometer, calibrated it and put it on a piece of foil on top of the perlite. Humidity in there stays between 75-85% (during the night when i wasn't fanning or misting), how can I raise it?

That's not a shotgun terrarium.  A shotgun terrarium is clear so light can penetrate.  A shotgun terrarium doesn't have a wire entering at the top.  Any light should be outside the terrarium.  If you're misting four times per day, your humidity is correct, despite what any crappy made in china hygrometer says.  This is the third thread in a row this morning I've replied to with the exact same problem.  You guys need to quit even buying those crappy so-called hygrometers.  They don't work.

You can mist more often.

A SGFC has a grid of holes on all six sides of it, all 2" apart. It looks like you didn't do that with the lid.

Clear tub.  80 percent of the light admitting surfaces of a tub are on the sides, and only 20% on the top.  You want a totally clear tub, not a clear lid.
