I just played this game for 12 hours straight because the story was so incredible. The way the story unfolds is VERY trippy and it drags you in. The BASIC story is this writer (Alan Wake) goes on vacation to a small town with his wife to get rid of his writers block. One thing leads to another and Alan's wife ends up being taken and he wakes up in a crashed car with shadow beings called "The Taken" trying to attack him with his only defense being his flashlight with his sidearm (at first). The FBI ends up getting involved to investigate the happenings and it ends up progressing into this huge paranormal mystery. The storys character development is incredible and makes you legitimately interested and care about what happens in the story, it's like playing a very very very good movie.
The gameplay is a fun mixture since you have to shine the light on the taken for a certain amount of time before their shield goes down so you can blow them away with your guns. It's very balanced so there are some very challenging parts but not impossible. I highly enjoyed this game and am curious to see if anybody else here on the shroomery enjoying the trippiness and just pure involvement with the story.

When I was at Game Stop I asked about it, but I didn't listen to the girl because she didn't sound very interested in it. It was the first I heard about it since I'm not near as into gaming as I used to be. Sounds interesting.

I kindof wish they had like, laser aiming ala Resident Evil 4. Because the shooting is more like aiming in their general direction rather then being accurate. But you have to consider this is a survival horror game and generally the aiming is like how it is in Alan Wake, its actually somewhat better then a lot of other durvival horror games.

I guess its nice that it finally came out, even if just for the xbox. Ive been following the game for years. Its production has been troubled to say the least.

I rented it and beat it and enjoyed the experience very much. I would recommend the game, but it might be a waste to actually buy it.

That is a win on all accounts. Have a blast!
-------------------- Reductio ad absurdum -deducing that everybody knows nothing without substituting a facade of concrete logic for diaphanous suppositions. Unfortunately, without an inherent truth to life, it would be impossible to hinder free thought and forcefully impose surreptitious ideologies which ultimately infarcts the portion of the brain responsible for applying any work not rewarded by monetary gain. That would be bad. Contemplating counter intuitive concepts can culminate with capricious creativity or cerebral cessation. Conceivably crazy, yet clever, coherent concepts challenge copulatory clichés, criminal cabals and certainty contrived of conjectures. Cognition or coagulation, choose conscientiously.
