So, I'm trying to get gypsum to mix in with the red clay dirt in my yard, does anyone have any idea where to get the crap? .... Lowes, Home Depot or Ace carry it? ... their website doesn't list it.

Try Lowes or ACE... or ask them to point you to the nearest garden supply store. Do NOT waste your time at Home Depot, they don't even carry verm.

I got mine at my local garden shop. A whole box that will last me a lifetime for like $10.

Yea I think with alot of stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) what they carry is more determined by the area.
I found that most Ace's I've been too always seem to have the odd sh-- I'm looking for. Of course Ace's aren't everywhere either.

Try your local nurseries or plant and garden shops. I get my gypsum from a local nursery for ten dollars for a fifty pound bag. I can think of 2 other nurseries in my area that carry gypsum.

These places do not carry gypsum. Your best bet is local Ma and Pa nursery suppliers.

Yeah and what i've read about gypsum and the benefits it has on red clay, it seems like every garden-ish store around here should carry it.

Every farm and fleet I have ever been to carries it, you can also try tractor supply or a green house.

That is because the tractor supply company is a corp. Chances are your local nursery is not. I woul support the local nursery but that's just me.

lol...I understand what you mean as far as budget. trust me they are not raping you. They just have to cover overhead and make a few bucks for shipping,inventory,payroll,rent,ect...so they can stay open. Plus they don't get the kinda tax cuts the big guys get or pay outs.
I will say this much,If I walked into the local nursery and asked 3 questions chances are I would get a great reply for all 3. Now if I walked into lowes or home depot and ask the same 3 questions not only would I have to hunt someone down to help me,they would tell me this isn't my department let me get someone and ect...in the end you learn alot more from mom and pop.
But yes,on a budget I understand

i will 2nd this... You go to any of these big corp places and start asking questions, you're going to get a bunch of bullshit. So many times have i gone into these corporate type places trying to ask questions, and they start blatantly feeding information i know to be false... I do all of my homework before i even leave the house to collect supplies anymore, saves a LOT of time and effort, as well as saves you from making mistakes because of other people's idiocy...
