what about acetylsalicylic acid isnt it close in nature or does it not have the same antibacterial qualities
alicylic acid, the major metabolite of aspirin
"A new study reveals that salicylic acid, the major metabolite of aspirin, acts at the level of transcription to downregulate the production of fibrinogen, fibronectin, and α-hemolysin — virulence factors necessary for bacterial replication in host tissues and, now, potential therapeutic targets."

Results are continuing to be good. The only case of mold while using SA ended up with myc eating the mold (trich)

So, who's gonna try this first?
What would a trial even look like? A few drops of Compound W in your soak water? Antibacterial soap? Two aspirin, crushed and dissolved? Not gonna buy a bag of the stuff, straight, myself.

What you witnessed was cubensis mycelium colonizing over trich on a grain medium. It happens all the time. As soon as you spawn that shit. The mean green will show it's ugly face in a very ugly way. If you see green in any step of the way, throw that shit away.

Reread thread. Trials have been done with a control group and pure s. acid. Similar to aspirin, but slightly different chem.

I'm sure that's what usually happens but it actually worked fine. I kept it as a whole cake, spawned it, and was fine. And it was a PF jar not grain.
No one believes me understandable. I'll take pics next time i see it happen.

Did not realize you were talking abut a cake. I have no experience with cakes. However, I have top fruited a couple quart jars with trich and they fruited fine. I personally wouldn't expose green mold to the open air in my grow room. But if what you claim is true I would love to see proof.

Okay, I just reread the thread, with many of my supportive posts peppered throughout. Maybe if I repeat the question in a slightly different way,,, who's gonna try this here? Or did I misread it again? I'm reading the 15 pages on Mycotopia, but so far all I see are anecdotes about mothers, others, and indians, off topic forays, a few links to other (similar) threads, ...and one experiment that was done with three jars of different sub and no control jar. Not even one. But I'll keep reading. Maybe the other 10 pages are filled with great experimental teks? I don't know. Let me keep reading...
Until then, and in case I come across one, given what we know about the substance from all these second hand sources... what would a proper experiment even look like? I'm curious. Feel free to ignore my jabberings if you don't know or can't be bothered with the stupidity of my question.
Thanks, SoupSandwich

^^Like I said, my first post and others throughout the thread describes an experiment done -here- with a control group and pure SA
