Yellow gills???pix
    #2326681 - 02/12/04 12:10 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

I just picked some of the second flush from my EQ cakes. I have noticed that some of the gills are yellow. I know that cubes gills are suposed to be a brownish color.

Is this normal?
Is it a mutant?

I picked a HUGE cube like this once. I wasnt sure if it was a cube or not because of the yellow gills. It had every other sign of being a cube except for the yelloe gills.

I threw it in the trash :frown:

yah niteowl ive done the same thing to a few big ones back in my picking days. The yellow threw me off because I did not know the cause of it... but once i found out the cause I was kicking myself for it. I was so overcautious then

Better safe than sorry, is the rule of thumb when eating wild shrooms.
