Funny you might say that, I am also re-thinking my schedule and it is kinda hard to achieve, I blame lack of experience for my bad judgement of time...and I am planning on doing about 4 large casings. I am running into problems already...just look for yourself...

Don?t be fooled these are the two most accelerated colonizations

creeper

Now if you cant see the detail ?sorry about picture quality? the mcy seems as if it is dry?ish and has overlayed on the BRF ?If I?m using the correct terminology?...logically the only reason I can see for this happening is not enough water in the jars, this may infact be the case as it is the first time I have prepared so much substrate, will it help if I eject the jars with sterile water asap as an attempt to resaturate the substrate...or am I wasting my time? Feedback is welcomed!!

I am pretty certain that Abyss referred you to that link to assist you after your cakes are 100% colonized. I wanted to point out that you shouldn't attempt to dunk your uncolonized cakes.

I had jars that I thought were looking dry. But eventually they got to where they wanted to go i'd just give it time. Don't mess with em. Don't even look at em for a couple of days. If the mycelium start to receed, then you should worry. But I bet you anything that every day it will be a little further. Sometimes jars just go slow. Don't let peoples "quick" colonizations fool you. Sometimes jars can take up to a month to finish.

Raadt...thanks for the great advice, I still think the mcy is looking kind of dry, but amazingly and to my suprise it's growing, I left the jars untouched for a few days and funny enough a few of em are almost fully colonized.
Well it's obvious that I am not going to make the 4 week deadline, but I'm keeping the log going Today as stated I carefully inspected all 24 jars in hopes of indentifying any contaminants, the bad news is that I have lost 1 jar to contaminants 'the last jar I innoculated' because Innoculation got monotonous and I seemed to lower my sterility standard. The good news is that the 23 other jars are looking squeeky clean and I have 1jar to try an outdoor tek with! I will upload some pictures later on tonight...my cam needs batteries.

As promised here are the pictures...

1 EQ Jar ?contam?!?? - Funny enough, I actually thought that this jar contained the contam, on closer inspection I can actually see healthy myc growth, could it just be myc piss or simple discolouration or am I wrong!

1Creeper Jar - I am pleasently suprised that the Creeper has actually caught up to the EQ in terms of colonization speed!

1 EQ Jar - Man I just love this strain, I got the original off of sporeworks and it has worked for me beautiful ever since, best investement ever made, so beautiful that I really have?nt had the urge to grow any other strain.

Thats alll for now.

I agree with you. It looks like healthy fluffy mycelium that got smashed against the side of the jar. Perhaps that part got a little bit too wet as well. If it has started to shrink away from the sides of the jar, I would bang the top of the jar on the counter to bring the cake away from the bottom and sides and see how it went. If it has a strange smell then beware but otherwise I'd probably case it with the others.

Well, I finally built up the confidence to smell the sucker, and it smells fine, nothing like bacteria.

My friend had a few iffy contam situations. He moved the questionable jars away from the good ones for a bit to ensure nothing spread, if contaminated. In the end, 1 of the questionable jars was a real contam, but he was glad he seperated them just incase.

Sorry about the lack in updates, but I have been really busy with organizing university credits and stuff!

'His friends must be really pissed'

No they ain't, circumstances have come up where I had to decrease time spent monitoring the grow. But Good news is I'm still at it...

Here is the update....

Finally those god dawn cakes have fully colonized, this has been the slowest colonization time I have ever experienced, I partly blame the rescent cold weather 'hell you gotta blame something.

14 EQ cakes were removed from the jars and dunked for 24hrs in a large pot filled with water.

A fairly large casing approx, 10' x18' was then prepared with the 6 jars of Creeper. This Casing was done by simply...

1. Sterilizing casing tray.
2. Inserting the cakes individually in a plasic bag, crushing them and emptying the crushed cakes in the casing tray.
3. Moist pasterized vermiculite '15 mins in microwave' was then layered ontop of the crushed cakes.
4. The tray was covered with tinfoil, holes were poked in the foil with a fork to help with gas exchange..

After this they were moved to the fruiting chamber as shown below.
