Some pictures of our third Psilocybe tampanensis isolate. This one does not produce any mushrooms in a casing but has really good in vitro sclerotia properties. These jars with sterilised grass seed (110 gram/180 ml water) were inoculated with 25 ml of liquid (blended agar) 30 days ago.

I take it you didn't presoak the rye seed...does the water diffuse evenly when you add water before sterilizing? Is this superior to presoaking and then straining excess water? Would you recommend adding water to birdseed and not presoaking it? Do you have filter patches on those jars?

Indeed we just combine the water and grass seed and sterilise them for one hour. I don't think it is superior to presoaking but it certainly is a lot easier! What is very important is to shake to shake to mix the dry and wet kernels while they are still hot. I would not recommend adding water to birdseed because birdseed consists of different types of grain/seeds which all take up water at a different rate, you will get an unshakeble clump. The jars do not have filter patches.
