I think you should use a lighter background so it's better 2 see, but my Pan Trop culture looks a bit different!

Did you grow from spores or did you clone it, as I took a closer look, it has the signs of what I have, but I grew from an agar wedge so it was spreading 2 the sides more equal! It looks like Pan Trop!

Looks like heathy Pan mycelia to me. Do you think someone will isolate some of the stronger strains to new plates before growing them out??

My foaf got small fruits on their Pan cyan agar plate, so they definitely isolated that strain. Other than such an obvious indicator, pick a healthy/hearty looking growth. Have you heard of anyone making liquid innoc w/ Pan mycelium? I wonder how it would do. FOAF just innoc'd quart jars of rye w/ agar wedges and that seemed to work fine. It was colonized in about 10 days (w/ two shakes).

Here's a pic of a dish with Panaeolus tropicalis mycelium. It was a transfer from a multispore inoculation. Medium is Oatmeal agar.

Yes it can. We use that method for most species when we are inoculating large amounts of jars. We blend a complete agar culture in an autoclavable blender. This liquid is then divided in some jars with sterilised water. We use these jars to inoculate the jars with spawn (free pouring in a laminar flow hood). The main advantage is that, beacause the water acts as carrier, only one (initial) shaking is required. Most species colonise spawn in 6-7 days in this way.
