I will refer to The Water Tub Tek since it is basically identical to the Humidity Chamber only simpler.

It happened once when I used a small piece of aluminum foil and once when I acidentally dropped a cake into the chamber. But cakes inside upsidow lids works fine it seems.
Myc didn't get far on the soaking wet coir anyway lolz

This is awesome Mateah! This looks like a well needed update to that dusty old SGFC. Also looks like a good solution for those who only have a few cakes at a time ready, and can't properly fill a SGFC. I don't normally fruit cakes, but I may just have to give this tek a whirl. Thanks for your time and research into this!

My personal SGFC has over 800 holes and it was built to specifics. I've had partial success with it, mostly when I started to get a grasp on what the substrates needed. And this is the thing about the SGFC and growers who defend it, if you know how to grow you can make it work. But if youre a total noob (like most are fruiting cakes inside the SGFC) you're gonna see blue cakes that don't produce.

So you don't crack the lid or do anything for FAE? Have you tried different containers?

I've done mostly 5L tubs like in the pics and also a few 11L tubs.
I've done both flipped lid and regular snapped on, didn't notice a difference really.
On early tries I did a few mistings here and there about 4-5 in total and progressively less and less misting until the last two grows were with no misting at all and with no verm on cakes. First flush always looks better than second flush, second flush fruits have some fuzzy feet. That still doesn't explain why first flush fruits don't have fuzz since they get exactly the same amount of FAE.

I like mine. I use mine to fruit just about anything in.I know - stupid newbie- but it work's for me- My dub tub's sucked as dub tubs- took the top off put them into "SGFC" saved there life man.Help's me rehydrate my coir tubs and provide FAE at the same time-I like them-I feel it has helped me out lot's. Then again I don't know much and just been using what is suggested to me from other's that know better.

Also worth noting is that the Humidity Chamber works equally well in a grow area with 0%RH, during winter months my whole apartment was bone dry when I fruited all those cakes with no verm layer and no misting. Try to do that with a SGFC and youll see the blue cakes all day if you're not guarding the cakes with a spray bottle
This setup is superior to the SGFC design on so many levels it's ridiculous.
As I said countless times before, SGFC can produce nice cakes if the conditions are right and if the grower isn't a total noob. But then again experienced growers don't suddenly get the idea to build a SGFC to fruit BRF cakes in, and those that suffer the inferior design of the SGFC are the very noobs I'm trying to protect. Moar shrooms for the people!

Totally agree! This sample is small but nevertheless speaks for itself. I encourage others to see the simllplicity for themselves in as harsh environments as 0%RH, it works, my cakes were not made out of magic, on the contrary they were sub quality compared to standard BRF cakes used for fruiting as cakes.
These cakes were made for slurry originally and are about 20-30% smaller than 1/2 pint cakes and also had weird shapes and no verm layer.
I'm looking forward to see perfectly prepped BRF cakes with verm layer fruited inside these chambers in the future from other growers!
I was planning on using wet towel tubs and also tubs with a cm of plain water on the bottom just to see how the Humidity would hold, I still have plans for this if I find the time and effort.

My first grow, I used a sgfc. I swear that thing required more babysitting with a spray bottle and dialing in than anything I've used since. Now, even in the driest months of the year my tubs and shoeboxes require very little attention once spawned. I will say the pain in the ass SGFC was what pushed me to move onto bulk. Never again SGFC!

Idk i used a sgfc to start and it worked great. I actually overmisted my cakes despite a dry ass house. And that was back in my never home party days
Here's my only old sgfc pics but I managed to over do misting and that was with a morning and night mist schedule only

My only dislike was perlite coming out of the bottom holes but a boot mat fixed that problem
By all means a sgfc isn't my favorite but it takes like 0 skill IMO its foolproof. Maybe i sound rude by if your cake is healthy I don't see how its possible to fuck it up sgfc or not. Cakes are so easy they fruit on a table with a baggie.
