Help with LC Please.

I've tried LC many times before, though not much success. I have a few questions.
1.With malt extract, does it matter if the malt is liquid or dry? cause I have dry stuff. 2.Does pure Dextrose work? 3.How many days does it take to grow? 4.How do I know if it is contamed? and 5. any other tips?
Thanks.

Dry is fine, it will dissolve into the water
It will work, but you will get better results from a mix of malt extract and dextrose
Depends how you inoculate it. spores will take longer than myc. Keep it around 72-78*F if possible
You cannot tell if a LC is contaminated. Unless for some reason it smells or looks terribly wrong. But, mold mycelium can be white, making it impossible to tell without testing on a substrate.
If you are going to inoculate the LC with spores, you may as well inoculate your cakes/grains with spores. It's just an additional vector for contamination, unless you inoculate LC with an isolates on agar so you at least know what you're getting (but then you could also inoculate your grains with agar wedges)
