Buying legal plants out of country

I was contemplating getting a Tabernaemontana orientalis Plant from MOD EDIT: Sources NOT allowed!!! Read the rules. (this is not an add, just a reference, would have linked directly to the page, but it wont let me)
I was wondering if the plant would survive in spring, a shipment to west Michigan? Is there a special way they ship plants, or do they box em up and hope for the best? It seems like it likes the same climate as Iboga.

Dude, take the link off, and read the rules. You've been a member long enough to know better. If you don't remove it a mod will do it for you.
Anyway, we would have to have used that vendor in order to know how they ship. My suggestion is emailing them.

I suspect if they did send plants overseas you would need a quarantine system! inski.

Haha, I guess so, if you are into BSing! In a nursery situation in NZ if you are bringing exotic plants into the country you need a permit and a quarantine system in place where a MAF officer comes and checks that everything is in order and you are not accidentally introducing insects or other organisms that could be harmful to the environment! inski.

The key is to keep the weight of the box and the fake label around the same weight. Be creative, use the smallest boxes possible, seal the pkg good, use standard shipping, and NEVER EVER use your real name if mailing out of your country. Go to a PO in another town if possible.
Here is how lophs should look when they come in the mail:
Get it? Now mail your shit like that. Well, at least the lophs. . BTW thats stuff I received, not sent out.

I suspect this is because seed packets can be treated and are proven to be sterile, live plants on the other hand are a different story! inski.

That's awesome ethnoguy!
But here in Canada I don't even have to do this, they let all my plants go through (and some even came from europe and such) and peyotes are legal

I'm not sure, lets say, if I received the loph packages above there could be any number of mites, insects, fungi or bacteria that could be very detrimental to our native species and in turn the environment, just look at what has happened with the cane toads that were introduced into Australia to control cane beetles, check out the painted apple moth in NZ, we were told to stay inside because they were spraying poison over us!! inski.

QFT! i've had seeds intercepted at aussie customs which were treated and then sent on to their destination with a cleaning bill lol

Yeah, I think they irradiate the material or something, just in order to kill microorganisms. If the aussie customs were to complicate your life it´d request a phyto cert, but they seem pretty lighter right now.
