No pinning with fruiting conditions

Hi all,
I have been using a monotub tek, and have been successful thus far. I inoculated Golden Teacher strain to WBS, spawned to hpoo/verm/gypsum/coffee, and now have a big tub full of fluffy myc.
I have the tub in a closet with a daylight CFL bulb, a fan circulating air, and a humidifier keeping the closet around 60% humidity (I'm assuming the humidity is higher in the tub). I spray and fan the box usually twice a day, and keep the light on for 12 hours.
I have searched everywhere on the forums to see what possibly is going wrong. I had a similar experience with a smaller tray of the same stuff, so I tried casing it with 50/50+, but still had no success. I started this project over a month ago, and started fruiting almost 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the help...hoping I can get some shrooms soon!

I am having similar issues with trays taking extra long to pin after placing into fruiting conditions. My assumptions keep flopping back and forth between two possibilities. 1. perhaps I placed into FC too early (may look fully colonized on surface and be premature in middle etc.) 2. my rooom needs to have the air exchanged daily. Due to the winter temps, the boom room has the windows closed and the air gets stale therefore the FAE getting to my FC is stale. 3. many folks on here are either supreme growers with awesome genetics or stretch the facts a wee bit. (see posts claiming print to fruit in 25 days etc.)
I have given #1 a fix by waiting the extra 3-5 days after the top looks done. For #2 I open a window a few hours per day in that room and run a fan to draw in fresh air then hand-fan the FC with fresh air from outside. #3 just wait, fruit, and harvest then tell everyone you went from MS inoculation to fruits in 3 weeks.
Good luck and be patient!
Within a few days I see pins in this situation. Try giving fresh air to the growroom to make your efforts more effective and you should have pins. Keep it up, your mono looks good.

You should remove the polyfill from the holes. Fruiting substrates don't need filtered gas exchange, they need massive amounts of fresh air, which causes a loss of moisture from the substrate. This is the number 1 pinning trigger.
I keep windows cracked at each end of my house all winter, even when it's -30 outside. It's not healthy to us or our mushrooms to breathe stale air. RR

Great information, thanks. I'll post again when I start to see some results. Would it be helpful to get a ultrasonic humidifier as well? Or should the tub maintain sufficient humidity on its own? As of now, the bottom two holes are covered in tyvek, the top two are open.

you don't need a humidifier inside your closet.
Give it air- fruting can take up to three weeks.

4 days later and still no change except the substrate has shrunk about half an inch from all of the sides of the tub. No pins at all though. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, R

I believe that crumpled wax paper will help to keep humidity at the surface, inducing pinning. Also an ultrasonic is not neccesary if you mist by hand
perhaps try removing a couple of the tyvek pieces? and increase misting and fanning?

The problem was with a lack of humidity. I found a few pinning sites on the sides and bottom, where there was more moisture. I have broken those off (including a substantial amount of myc) and am fruiting them separately from the tub.
Next grow I'll make sure to pump in a ultrasonic humidifier once or twice a day after I am done fanning... Now I know.

Ended up getting two solid pinsets...total of about 1/2 oz dry weight after 2 flushes.
Not a complete failure, but definitely will do some things differently next grow.
