as anyone growing in the UK will know the only wide mouth jars available here are the bonne maman jam jars. so i sent my girlfriend to get some for my next batch even tho I'm using half pint drinking glasses for my first that i inoculated a few days ago. anyway she comes back with these jars, lol.
lol
little baby 50gram wide mouths, ahhhhhhhh. just for laughs, what would happen if i used a bunch for a little novelty pf grow,do you think one cake would produce even one shroom each.

I've seen pictures on here of people getting substrate smaller than a shotglass to fruit. I've also seen fruiting on a petri dish so.... I don't think it takes that much sub to fruit

I'm willing to bet you can get a fair amount of fruit off of one of those.
That's awesome, I can't wait to see how those turn out.

well Ive been using the search engine and cant really find any pics of tiny fruiting cakes.it would certainly be interesting to see if it works, not to mention how funny it would look to see a lovely big cube growing from a wee 50 gram jar, lol, the jars are so cute.
everything is going well with my first grow so far and i plan on making a lc tonight that i meant to do at the weekend, once Ive done that i will attempt this, for the small amount of hassle it will be worth it as Ive nothing else planned except for waiting on things happening.
who knows maybe they will colonize quicker, but wont have enough nutrients to fruit, will soon see.

Id assume you might get less flushes with a smaller cake because of less food, you might also have to watch to make sure the smaller cake doesnt dry out faster then a bigger one, but as long as it works it doesnt really matter! Good Luck!

Yes, you can fruit small cakes. A small cake is a good way to test an isolate, but you will get less, smaller flushes as it is smaller. But yeah, it works.

They'll work. BRF is actually more efficient in smaller size jars than larger. Here's a 1/4 pint grow. Use the search posts feature and you can find many more. RR

hey thats a great idea redDevel,I'm doing my first liquid culture tonight, when its ready i will use the small jars with brf to inoculate the lc to test if its OK/not contaminated,is this what you mean. i take it the tiny jars will colonize a lot quicker, therfor i would detect any signs of contamination.
I'm just trying to get my head round it all but if thats the case then they could come in handy after all. i will make 2 or 3 lc's and use each one to inoculate say 3 small jars when their fully ready. Ive got all the stuff and time on my hands so it could turn out to be a good experiment/learning experience.
i still cant get the thought out of my head of tiny jars with fruiting body's growing from them in a little baby terrarium, lol, ill do that with the ones i test the lc's on if they don't contaminate, could make a great ornament.
