Mescaline Tek Question

I've got a quick mescaline extraction question. After failing for an unknown reason with the B/A teks, we have decided to go with the alcohol extraction. My question is, should you defat the powder before using the alcohol to extract??

Steps we plan on using.

1 - Place cactus powder in a jug.

2 - Mix with xylene, shake, drain out xylene.

3 - Add isopropyl alcohol to the cactus. Get a few extractions.

4 - Evap the alcohol.

My questions are in step 2. Will the mescaline dissolve in the xylene?? If yes than why are there no straight to xylene teks out there? Can you substitute xylene for alcohol in the straight alcohol teks??
