I would think so. Now if it read above 75 then you would have a prob, but lower would indicate that when it reads 100 that the air is properly humidified.

No, the ONLY reliable hygrometers for what you're doing are called "hair" hygrometers. They use a human or synthetic hair to measure RH. Decent ones start at $55, and they go up from there.

There are ones for like $35 or so, but be careful, these are usually designed to be accurate in the 60%-75% range, not the 90%-100% range.

THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to know is this: when using a hygrometer in extremely moist or dry conditions, you HAVE to expose it to the OTHER extreme for 10-12 hours a day. This is the ONLY way to keep it accurate.

I bought 2 so I can always have one where I need it, and the other one sitting in like 30%Rh. I just swap them out every 12-24 hrs.
