Depends on how you dry them or keep them. Alan, Workman or myself can post a photo of Gymnopilus luteofolius spores for you to compare them with. You'll need a 1000X power microscope with oil immersion. They are pretty common I think.
If you want to dry them, use air. Just put them in front of a fan or hang them from a string in front of a fan. If you want to preserve them as they are, just wrap them in damp paper towels and keep them cool. I would dry them if it were me once you have a decent print.

I'm almost done with the print, however, and I had a look at some spores with my microscope, which is total crap, and thus I failed to actually see anything. I may try and borrow a better one in a few days, however---will these dry out as quickly as I think they will?
Oh, and if you can't find someone to help you out there, Alan, Workman or myself can examine them for you. It's better if you do the work yourself though. You'll learn more that way.

Yea, gills seem a bit brown and the stem is kind of white and smooth. Pholiota sounds good.

One of us should help him out if he can't get the proper help. Don't you agree?

Well, gentlemen, for the simple reason that my small shriveled up old mushrooms have over-hourly been infested by mouldering maggots, I am throwing them away. I did get a horrible print, however, due to the generosity of my cats, and if I can somehow miraculously find a suitable microscope and have a wee look....
But other than that, thanks loads!

O yes, although I feel very stupid for mentioning this----
When I picked these they coated my fingers in orange spore, like sticking your nose into a bunch of pollen. I read somewhere that gyms produce so many spores they coat anything and everything around them? But yeah. And also these (before they sadly died) were very tough. I feel extremely dumb to be saying this, but don't Pholiotas putrefy quite quickly? Anyhow, I feel very stupid for putting this up so late. Cheers, mates!

In my experience Pholiotas decay much quicker than Gyms. Also the amount of spores and the way they rubbed off also sounds more like a Gym. The easiest way to tell between the two is the microscopic examination. Good luck.
