So I get a phone call from a friend last wednesday saying he has an extra ticket to see Keller Williams and he's 5 hours away. I know nothing about this guy and am a little worried about travelling this far to see some dude I know jack shit about.
I've heard laugh a couple of times and I was at bonnaroo and seen a couple songs of him with $CI but it was like 2 am and I had been partying all freakin' day and what was going on was a little foggy so I went there with no expectations.
I make the drive and meet up with some friends in Iowa City for a little pre-party and we head to the Union bar the fucking place was so packed people are passing out and shit that was a bummer. I take a look at the stage and see a mounted bass, odd drum set, mounted electric guitar and his acoustic guitar. I was alittle confused at this point because I heard he was solo artist. He came onstage just jamming away with this wierd slap style playing, his music is really bouncy. He'll set his acoustic down and record bass, rythm guitar, and drum loops right on stage, then he'll pick up his acoustic and jam like mad on top of his loops. I was quite shocked at what I was seeing and pretty impressed, if he's coming to a town near you I'd go see him, it was 12$ well spent for me. He played from 10:00-1:00 with one 15 minute break.
If anyone knows where I could get a setlist i'd really appreciate it.

yep, keller williams is the man. First time i saw him was at bonnaroo too. I couldnt actually get in the tent(to packed) but i listened from the right side of the tent under the big tree :smile: gosh i had a swell time that night.

I was right over there with ya, behind the tent to the right. I wanted to check out Karl Denson and I didn't plan on staying around all night so my time was limited. I wish I hadn't drank anything that day, with 3 hours of sleep and about 10 beers in me I couldn't handle staying up for the entire shows the first night.

Keller is AWESOME!  I first saw him in 2000 in Baltimore.  The place was packed also.  It is amazing how he plays with himself  :grin:
