Is there a safe space heater which I can use in the attic?

So here is the dilema. I have four straw monotubs at about 2 weeks colonization now but still not completely colonized. They are at a friends house in the attic which I suspect is too cold. He keeps the thermostat at 67 and I would doubt that the attic is much warmer. It is a studio apartment built above a garage so I would assume the temperature stays relatively constant. I had him place a thermometer in the ambient space of the attic and move the tubs close to the incubator to try to boost the temps for now. Now, my friend is completely opposed to the idea of using a space heater. I think that would be the best solution, getting a digital space heater with an automatic shut off. So long as you give about 3 feet of space around it you aernt at great risk of fire are you?
If you think I should be using something else to heat the tubs please let me know. I am open to suggestions.
Thanks.

67 Doesn't seem too bad, but if looking for a space heater, one could get (just one I know off hand) a vornado space heater. It is like their fans. which are great quality, and pumps out heat. Really though, I think most space heaters would work, I would just avoid the crazy ones that use fire and a fan, the electric ones meant for indoors all seem pretty safe, one just has to make sure it doesn't make it too hot.

I like the look of the heating pad and thats what I thought of initially. The only problem is the cost. To heat all of these I would have to get the largest size at over $70. A space heater would be only about $30. I will keep it in mind though. Thanks.

I recommend radiator type space heaters.
