Modafinil/Provigil/Modalert. Isn't it fucking Brilliant!
    #9960421 - 03/12/09 07:07 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

Anyone with experiences of using modafinil? Been dosing for a couple months now and I reckon it triples my hourly output. Love that stuff.

I'm going to picking some up as soon as I can, I've heard nothing but good things. How much are you usually taking at once?

I just made a post in ODD about it the other day.

Great stuff.

If I am feeling in need of a boost, I dose 200mg, it takes 'bout 30 mins to kick in, then you are off! I can turn out 2000 words of pure referenced gold in an hour on the dullest of subjects. Make sure that you get generic modalert for about 1/6th the price compared to provigil. If you are tight on time, just take 200mg every 6 hours for 48 hours, the effects are pretty magical, like on the fairytale level. And there are very few side effects. The only one I can think of is the increased risk of DVT from sitting at your desk typing for 8 hours solid.

I've just been taking 200mg a few times a week if my schedule is all fucked up.

Works the same as 8 hours of sleep as far as I can tell.  I don't know if I'd want to string a week or so together, but it works exactly as advertised.

I mostly use it to work on things that are so dull that I can't face otherwise. It seems to minimise distractions.

I've heard Modalert is nowhere near as good Modafinil and it can have some nasty side-effects/comedowns? I was going to order some next week but wasn't sure which one I should get.

Which kind do you have Madtowntripper?

Same stuff man. Modalert is generic - the only difference is the trademark. Same molecule, same effect same everything apart from the price.

Narcolepsy, apparently?

I got a prescription from my doc because I work strange hours and told him I was having trouble waking up for some shifts...

It's mostly prescribed for sleep apnoea, narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia (being sleepy!), but you wont need a prescription. Google it, it's pretty freely available. Check contraindictions with any current medication, and of course make sure that you are buying it from a reputable source.

That's interesting.

Just out of the blue?

Have you tried again since then?

I found this interesting, i thought it was a fairly benign drug, but maybe this is a pretty rare side effect.

TEN can result from an enormous number of drugs. DRESS is very serious, but also very rare. 'snuthin to worry 'bout. If it makes ya feel any better, I'm 1/5th of a pharmacologist and I consider this stuff the safest of the safe.

I love dexedrine so much.

Much much more than ritalin/adderall.

I get a great body buzz from dexedrine.

Damn, I posted in this thread like 10 minutes ago, WTF happened? I must not have unchecked preview before I clicked post.

Anyway....I've been experimenting with allot of different nootropics lately, along with some new meditations, various different diets, and daily use of dual-n-back. I've had great success with modafinil, piracetam, and dimethylethanolamine. I still prefer amphetamines, but that is only because I dont use them every day.

I got sick of paying out the ass for monthly "meetings" at the local ADHD clinic, so now I don't have a adderall prescription. My monthly prescription actually lasts me 3 to 4 months, so I'm set for another 2 to 3...I don't know what I'm going to do after that. Not having insurance sucks.

yup, piracetam is one for my "postgraduate" list, I have a friend upon whom it has definately has a measurable effect, and the double blind controlled trial stuff speaks for itself. Pretty cheap too. Blew, don't suppose you have ever studied languages? Thats meant to be what piracetam is best for.

Yeah, I would second that. It definitely helped me stay awake longer without the "psychosis" that amphetamines seem to induce. (visual distortions, mood swings...etc) However I didn't notice any "cognitive enhancement" like I do with amphetamines.
