cleaning verm off harvested fruits

This may be a bit trite, but would anyone share their technique for cleaning the verm that doesn't just get easily flicked off the base of a freshly harvesty mushy? I mean, w/ some of my verm-based casings the li'l flakes get pretty embedded in the the base of the shroom stalk, and using a small knife or blade I'm creating abrasions/cuts/bluing in the base area. I think verm is prob a bad thing to ingest, may contribute to typical shroom-related stomach upset. I'm wondering if you can get some of the hard-to-remove flakes out better after drying rather than before. All opinions welcome!
Peace, bros!

I don't think it accounts for some of the upset stomach sydrome seeing that it is pretty inert. Its like eating dirt, sure its not great for you, but it doesn't really have anything to upset your stomach. I know its gonna sound funny, but try rubbing it off. heheheh rub one off.

Yeah, just wipe it off. Works for me. If you have to, take a good sharp knife or other blade and "skin" the edges covered in the stuff.
What would you do if you were growing in poo?
In the scheme of things, if you have to, eat a little verm. I wouldn't chow on handfulls of it, but it's not the worst thing in the world.

I fukken hate verm. The only thing i think its good for is the typical pf cake. Since moving to bulk substrate, I've stopped using it because it would be all over my fruits, all over my house, all over me, and i've heard that it can cause cancer if ingested. (doesnt everything?) And i really hated drinkin some fungus tea with lil golden flakes. But this is just my opinion. And yeah, like he said, i'd kinda skin my fruits where it was.

Cancer? There _was_ a rumor that it contained asbestos (the same stuff causing cancer in celing tiles and other stuff like that) but I don't know if it's true or not.
There was a study released that linked potato chips and french fries to cancer. Looks like the majority of Americans (m'self included) are going to die a long, slow and painful death.
Personally I'd be happy to make it past the age of immortal rockstardom (28).

Vermiculite is known to be carcinogenic. But so are lots of other things. Just dont eat handfuls of it and you'll be straight.

Hey,
I don't know what the truth is about verm being a carcinogen, so I recind my opinion and stand ignorant!
Anyway, I guess the reason I thoght that it was was a result of this thread. Dunno. I use it when I have to (indoors) but I much prefer the simplicity of outdoor growing anyway. Too bad it's DAMN cold out these days..

Ahhhh, youth..
Hehe, actually that wasn't so long ago in the scheme of things, and I've learned a helluva lot since then. Casings and outdoor patches are the way to go, now that I know what I'm doing (as opposed to just doing )
