Whoa, we are talking about chat not the forums. Yes you cant get in to the chat on a proxy, as it's be hosted by irc.webmaster.com, but your ip is masked. I might be wrong but I think Shroomery does the same. To my understanding wich may be lacking there is no IRC chat that dont scan for proxies, unless it is hosted by a smaller server, that host only one or two rooms.
The forums you can use proxies as allways,. As far as mjshroomer and hippy, the problem with them has no bearing on this and what was done was to keep peace in the forums and not for speaking up. Try reading all the threads and get the whole picture before you make your opion. As hippy was so quick to point out it stems from a long dead site, and old problems. When are people going to wake and stop calling the forest floor the drool donkey?
What I am most interested in is this stament "now my freind has had a few complaints from his isp about illegal activity online"
, Iv never have heard of such thing, please tell us more.
It saddens me that this goes on and on , if not here some where else. One little bug up some ones ass is all it takes, and poof the shit starts. The forest floor is here to stay as is the shroomery and mycotopia, all great sites each with its own couminty and opions. 90% of the friction can be traced to just a few and one, stemming from a DEAD site as I have stated. Now we have this lovly piece of tripe, the NARC card played agin. Think hard for a second ( I know that might be hard for you to do), what would any site gain in this?........ Nothing , it might suprise you that most people who admins these are not petty and are here for the couminty and the wealth of info that these sites offer.
Back to chat, my home ground, it dont matter if you use a proxy or not, logs are kept by many some dont even know it, ( check your settings on your cielnt), on the server your IP is tracked and with a smiple method your packets can be read. Suprise! welcome to the internet. There is no real security you can make it hard, but not imposible. If your friend has a problem maybe he should look frist at his ISP, before you start pointing fingers.

screw you, i was here long before you,
so you leave.
i just want to point out that at mycotopia we do not use irc in our chat room because of this very issue.
instead, we use a simple java chat that hides everyone's identity quite nicely, even i have no power in my own chat room, i can't boot or ban because our primary concern is for the safety of our membership.
and we don't record conversations in the chat room, which i know eddie does because i've seen him post entire conversations to win an argument.
you put recording conversations together with harvesting ip's and you've got a real security problem, in my opinion.

Secondly, Please read what Alien has mentioned, "You have to know what you are doing with Mirc and configuring proxies via firewall to find this out."

I see people from time to time thinking that there is a "security breach" in chats or websites, when really its simply a lack of knowledge.  Sometimes when I go into a chat I connect via a SSL. 

Most people I don't think do that....

Point is, sometimes one not knowing something can (especially technologically) can be harmful for no reason at all.

I am rather interested in this illegal activity that your friend (Alien) was doing online.  If someone is doing something illegal online, usually the person is reported to the ISP, and the ISP just kicks them off.  Proof would be best. 

Again, lets keep this a debate and not a flame war.

I know why you can't specify what's going on Alien. There are a few reasons. For one, you have absolutely no idea of what's going on. Now , let's go back to the time when you actualy stopped by the forestfloor chat room. When you came in to the #forestfloor chat I distinctly recall you BASHING THE SHROOMERY. Not only that you also said you were 'tired of the kids'. Then you followed it up by saying how much you liked the forestfloor better than the shroomery. It's unfortunate that I delete my logs once a week because i would have posted your exact words in this thread.

I'm sorry , but how do you react to death threats and threats of legal action for actualy trying to HELP THE OLD SAP(mj) IN THE FIRST PLACE!? If i'm not mistaken MJ took it upon himself to send out various threatening e-mails and pm's to a few members of our board. One of them being our webmaster, eddy. Well, mister smarty pants if you knew the whole story you would know that MJ recieved an e-mail from eddy- BEFORE ALL OF THE THREATS AND GARBAGE THAT MJ SPEWED AT US FOR NO REASON. In this e-mail eddy offered to host this ungreatful sack of shit's pile of images.

I think if you want to point fingers and place blame on these sites, it's webmaster, and it's members you should first do your homework. I suggest you start of at SPF and search for MJ's latest posts... i think they speak volumes about why he was treated the way he was and what he did to initiate it.

I, for one will not bow down to some pseudo mushroom guru just to save face. Especialy when he's shitting on my lap.

Lastly I offer you the definition of 'contribute'...... i suggest you read it and learn to apply the word correctly.

No worries, this is what the forum is here for.  If someone has a question or an observation that is security related, ask :smile:  No harm done.

But my previous post was to just let everyone know that this forum is security related.  Its not the OTD :smile: and flames aren't tolerated.

One:  I'm not mad at you.  Those are legitimate questions....

Although, my affiliation with Myco Supply and this thread/forum have nothing to do with security.  The business decisions that my partners and I decide are not for public discussion.  And my position as a moderator is based upon the decisions of the admins here. 

I am simply here to moderate the forum.  If people start yelling and writing  non security related issues here, then the thread will be locked.  Please post detailed and concrete information.  There has always been differences between the Shroomery and the Forest Floor, (why? who knows) but there is no need for name calling or bad mouthing. 

IF the Forest Floor has some kind of security problem I am sure they will be properly addressed. 

Has anyone else tried to contact the FF admins?

Does this mean people are viewing private PMs at the Forest Floor? How else could eddy have known that I was mad at Alien, considering I haven't said anything publicly, nor had I said to anyone that I was mad at alien (that one night).

This is a very serious issue, you would hope there is a reasonable answer to this, I'd like to think there is since I like eddy and I don't see him doing such a thing.

This is from me, mjshroomer aka mj and.or mjshroomer and.or John Allen. First off I am not here to flame anyone but to show a few of the alleged lies or misconceptions which come from Camels vast empty mind of lost or misinformation storage space. Camel has spoken of to me in his letters at The Forest Floor where i posted a message to Eddy because my posting rights at spiritplants were removed by someone there. I was flamed both on the Forest Floor Site in my post of my message to Eddy, a message which really flamed no one at the Forest Floor and was only printed there since I had no posting or email privaleges at Spritiplants. I was also sent some rude private messages to which I too, in likewise, rudely threatened and responded. AS for death threats I basically said some rude comments which in a way made me no different than the person posting their flames at me. One such threat was about what I would l8ke to do to someones face if I ever met them personally and a similar threat of 'if you would have been in country in Nam someone would probably have fragged you.' I also believe I threatened to deficate on someones family gravestone.

Well these child-like were wrong for me but I want you all to get a picture or an idea of how easily I get angry when lied to by Camel. ANd this one is just a monor incident.

However Camel has lied to me about many things since day one when he used pictures from me for his supposely Psilocybine Mushroom Association of America Magazine advertised at the shroomery as an online publication for $75.00 a month. A monthly on line mushroom magazine which never appeared, yet one wonders if anyone ever sent him the money for issues of the supposedly online mag, of which he used many pictures from me which I loaned to him out of kindness to spread the word of the musrhoom species avaialble to the public which were common.

The one I brought up about shamans is insignificant because he always responded with I can prove this or that, but then he never really produces proof of anything he says he can prove. Thus ending his side of an argument. And thus never proves anything other than saying he can prove this or that.

So I am not here to flame him or anyone but I wanted to bring these three posts to your site to se for yourself of some of the shit I take from him.

Below is a resonse from the forest floor in a response to a Message I posted asking Insomnia to mind his own business. This was in response to a post Insomnia brought up about how much money I made off of the internet from my site and others. Or his regarding how much money he thought I made off of my website form my books, thailand trips, t-shirts, cd;s, sporeprints, etc. My first book Magic Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest sold 55,000 copies the first 8 months of publicationin 1976 and I made one dollar a book. The book was $2.50 at all stores which carried it through Homestead Book Company., A company to which I also for thirty yearas have supplied sporeprints., which I made thousands of dollars since 1976 when I first wrote magic Mushrooms but have only had an internet sales business since january of the year 2000. Business build up with thousands of cutomers long before any internet business of mine.

oh the whole PO Box thing with John is like this (i really dont understand how/why he is pissed off at me for this, you figure it out)...

he contacted me last winter to use a picture of a flush of mine to be used on a cd of his or something. and because of that he offered me a free cd. i gave him my addy, and kept checking it almost daily at that point in time, and never got anything. he then sent me a pm saying he got it back return-to-sender. i told him he must have written the wrong addy down or something. he tried to send it again, but somehow managed to mess it up the second time as well. then this is when he started accusing me of "changing my po box" amongst other nonsensical things that i think only he could think up. i then told him to keep the stupid cd and that i didnt really want it anyway, i only accepted it b/c he offered it (i never would have accepted in the first place if i would have known his inability to send a package, and his crazy/nonsensical temper).

again, i REALLY dont know how/why he is/can be pissed over this... you try and figure it out

Below is a post to me of at PM in my private message box at the shroomy made on Feb 10, 2002 at 12:58 A. M.


Okay, now below is the second returned package again from this po. box. Camel posted in the pm shown above.

This one was mailed on the 28th of Feb 2002 and sent back tp me back exactly on the 8 of March ten days later after I mailed it to him a second time.

Read the postmans notes and markings.

I also pmed Camel and the letter is in my files as to yes he still had the po box and even checked it a few days before.

And as soon as I can find time I will print out the letter mailed to the post master at that same po. box who rewrote me claiming that Matt Allen closed his box weeks before and left no forwarding addres as indicatedd in the above picture.

Then Camel sent me an obnoxious lletter telling me to keep the stupid cd-rom and give it to some one else. WEll I have contacted that person for the other third mailing of the cd-rom and they have the orginal envelope also with the mushroom cultivation video I remailed a third time to camel and it too is marked no forwarding address,

So think what one may about this matter. I will not respond to his bs again.

This is the kind of games he plays and why i cannot and do not want anything to do with him.

AS for the Forest Floor it is a cool site and I have no complaints about that site and never have.

ANd I really have more important work than to defend my self against people with only ten, twenty or thirty or forty posts who are obviously other regular mnembers who use phony names to hide who they really are.

AS for spying, I know one web user here in seattle who actually cam-records his chatline converasatins for a possible book on drug chatlines and the comments posted.messages when he is on the chatline. So for all of you paranoid people who worry about security should think about that one

Why this person cams them Is beyond me bwecasue most of the conversations can be pretty stupid and make no sense wmongst people talking about subjects and getting advice from newbies who do not know what they are telling others about. My friend says he just likes to keep records for a possible book someday..

And there is nothing wrong with boxtop, he is an honest spore vendor.

Hmmmm Thor... Since I'm the only one with server access.... and we know each other well enough to know that I would never read anyone's private messages.... WHAT else COULD the answer be?

I've been watching this thread since my new buddy Alien /msg'd me in #spiritplants the link to it right after he posted it.This was an hour or two after he tried using the nick 'Eddy' in my channel and I kicked him for it. I didn't see a need to get excited or anything, still don't... In fact, I'm very pleased to know that my integrity stood on it's own merit.

Here is an idea..

IRC to irc.yack.org (where the Spiritplants chat is) and do a MOTD. You will
see that is not even eddy's server. that is why you can't logon anonymous.

Try using a secure socks proxy and you should have no problems.
Only insecure proxys are not allowed.

First off Edd, that was Camels alleged adedress in New york in Febryary of this year. He moved and lied about his address as still being there. Since 3dshroom saw fit to move that post I will post itt elsewhere and I have that right.

Essy, as you mentioned Camel is not a magazine publisher but he advertised a magazine on this website here for several months as forthcoming for a cost of $75.00 an issue on line. I wonder how many people sent him money and received no onliine magezine.

Read the post below or proof that he organized event the short lived website which was to be the casis for this magazine he advertise. I know becasue I supplied him with photographs for that site.

As for that address and mailing name, that could be anyone but Camel since the postmaster of the post office informed me that the box had been closed for weeks before that mail was even sent there and that there was no forwarding address.

Then you woouls see more of the PMAA site and Camels asking price of $75.00 per issue to join and receive a monthly magazine only available to those who would subscribe to it.

mj, I am a personal friend of the Mule's, he isnt a mushroom conference organizer. he does not live in Oregon, nor is he associated with the Breitenbush people.

While I know people from Oregon that attend Breitenbush every year, I know for a fact the Mule has never attended, we discussed it. Id give you his general locale, but weve all seen what you do when you have a person's addy, so ill just keep it to myself.

Alien, you might like my repsonse to Amanita's Bin Laden image of me which was removed from the forest floor. Thanks for the support.

And while Camel may be good for some he has not been good for me and my posts showing that were deleted because a name was included on the posts, both in a pm and in a phony po box address for which I posted the actual returned packaged marked by the post man as closed and no forwarding addres. A package sent three two times and then a second one also sent and returned yet Camel said he went and checked every day yet the postman wrote me the box had been closed for weeks.

And yes I was a little disgusted with Amanita.s portrayal of me as Jesus bin Laden a drug traficker but i think I made a better image at the political forum, that is if they havent removed it yet.

Still have a few more political images to post at that forum as soon a s I use Anno's resizing url tool to do so, the others fit but when I made three new ones they came out at like four hundred to five hundred kbs, although the Osama one came out under 100 kbs and they are both 360 dpi image4s.

I'll work on it later.

mj that is not from the Mule. The email addy is all wrong, I know he doesnt use aol, and the name he gives is wrong as well. I have seen his passport, we traveled to jamaica together recently.

I can see how you might think it was him from that, but it isnt man. Its someone messing around with you, or its berlstein trying to steal whatever glory he perceives the mule to have.

Send Mule a copy of that message, hed get a kick out of it and might be able to help you find out who it really is. I assure you it isnt him that sent that message.

I agree with you now, theres more than meets the eye going on here as far as the mule issue is concerned.

By the way Millit, with only 37 posts to your name it telss me you know not very much about what goes on here for the past three years, and as mentioned above, people who have less than 50-1000 posts are nbot very mushroom alert at all or reliable in most of their posts or information they offer.

I have no complaints about you but id your friend is not the same mule who used the named for the last two years then he probably might not b the same Mule, However, I have many letters of correspondence from the mule reagrding both 2000 and 2001 Breitenbush mushroom conferences.

I have many letters from the Mule so it is very possible that your friend has taken the Mules name and uses it as his own and has nothing to do with the real Mule who has been a member of the PSMS for many years and is thee one who oganized the last two years of the Breitenbush mushroom conference, a place where I have lectued on 8 different ocassions.

i've got a security-related question, no flames.
why would a website in this field use chat software
that records all conversations and reveals ips ?
what is the advantage over say the simple java chat
we use a mycotopia ?
is it the ability to boot those who act up ?
we don't have that ability, despite my reputation
as a control freak.
i think that by allowing a chat room that anyone can say anything in, it counter-balances the heavy moderation
on the message board.
and we don't have chat logs, either.
what gets said there, stays there.
i can't even determine anyone's ip in there.
and i'm the admin.
i chose a chat like that because i was worried about
the safety of my guests.
but i'm no computer/irc expert, so i'd just like to know
why the other boards chose to use irc.

It seems again that another newbie with a single post will not really make an impression on anyone here at the shroomery. Most likely this person with one post called Crazyoldman is someone whom Thor recently banned for making similar obnoxious messages and flames towards me so he comes back with yet another new name and starts all over.

Most likely it is shroomerylurker or even Mr. Seattle_joker or someone who does not want someone to know who he is with one post to make those statements posted above. My mentioning busting people has to do with if someone were to fuck with my kids or sell them drugs on the streets then yes I would turn them into the police. period. Get a life and start worrying about your own business. I do fine and my friends know who I am and no that I narc on no one.. As for you, yuou are just one oin a million people who drop into this site to stir up shit and cause disention in a community where people want to learn about mushrooms and all you can do is critisize and have probably never contributed anything except spewing forth hatred.

Stay at your forest plants because the shroomery and mycotopia and several other sites do not need people like you there to begin with.

And I have never snitched anyone off but apparently you missed the big snitch names I posted at the mushroom pictures forum which included people like Paul McCartney, Jerry Garcia, Robert Downey Jr,, Drew Barrymore, and oh yes lest I forget so did David Crosby of Crosby Stills Nash and Young to name a few, they did this for reduced jail time and have talked about it on several talk shows in the past. Even Tim LEary and Leonard Enos. If I saw someone on first or second avenue peddleing drugs to children I would call the cops. Someday it might be your kid on the street getting sold some crack. Regarding the crazy old mans accusations of me busting someone is that he mis read the statement posted below taken from the URL Crazy Old Man osted above.

I already had a friend's friend busted becauxe someone I took to a spot kept accidently driving by a spot I showed him and that led to neighbors calling the police on two other people who came by to collect some shrooms where I had asked this person not to attract attention or go there and then he posted the info on the particular street at the shroomer. He removed the post but left the images of the shrooms he collected. Now it is not safe for anyone to go there.

The person who was taken away and arrested was not taken for having shrooms but for an outstanding traffic warrants and forr some pot possession in his back Pack.
Of course becasue of that he was also charged for the shrooms while the other person was not charged for anything but was told never to come back tot hat neighborhood again.

That statement refers to a friend of mine who toiok another friend to a patch which I showed them and told them to check it out every now and then. Well sefveral people I took there went back and this caused some consern among some of the elderly tenants living in the building so when whis friend of mine and his friend ent there to pick some shrooms, one of the tenants im the bnuilding called the cops.

They put makes on both people and my friends friend had an outstancing warrant, a subject I am not going to get into. So this friend of my friend was arrested. and he was also chargedwith possession ogf the mushrooms in his bag.

My friend who was also picking shrooms was not charged with anything whatso ever and was told to dump his bag of mushrooms and not to return to that area again or he would be busted for trespassing.

That is how this friend was busted. not by7 me and this hapened while I was in Thailand after another person I brought to that very site the year before to show him what the shrooms looked like hapen ro post some pictures on the web and say that mushroom john took him there and the spot was on Aurora avenue.

I respnded back when I heard the news of my friends friend being busted for going there and it was most likely becasue this other person who claime he was just driving by the neighborhood on aurora, although he lives in the Bellevue-Kirkland area. Welll that person removed his post but left the images of the shrooms he collected.

Now a few other friends are afraid to go to that spot becasue tnenants have seen to many people prowing around their condos and they are calling the cops.



I really should not have to explain any of this but this person nnamed Crazy Old Ma is obviuously someone Thor had banned and he just returned with one post to create disention amongst the good people here at the shroomery.

I have not posted here in at least a year. I probably won't bother to again either. I used to post as "The mule" but I forgot the password. I did organize the breitenbush conference in 2000 and 2001. I have sent no messages and no nothing about any of this. Who ever is "mule" is not "the mule" (now "old mule").

Anyway, hope y'all are well. Breitenbush was fun but I am done with that. They became too hard to deal with.
